If I could give this hotel a zero star I would. I have a very high standard expectation for 4 stars and hotel collection brands. If any hotel can not meet the standard of providing that excellent service and luxury atmosphere should not be listed as a hotel collection. I booked my reservation a month ago under my Amex Platinum travel for 3 nights weekend to celebrate my companion's birthday and even called them the day I fly in to give them a heads up that we are arriving around midnight or so. By the time we show up everything was a disappointment. Service was bad, staff didn't dress professionally, the hotel lobby is not luxurious, it is a very hippie and inexpensive environment looks. Worse of all we were told that we don't even have a room because they are fully overbooked till Sunday but they can get us a room at their sister hotel. Is a block away so the distance wasn't a major problem but their sister hotel gave us two queens instead of the King room that we booked, disrespecting our privacy- someone was trying to enter our room even with a do not disturbing sign hanging on the door. As platinum cardholders, we get a $100 credit toward spa or restaurant usage at the hotel collection brand. This credit was not able to apply at the sister hotel because they are not part of the hotel collection or nor that credit was provided to use at Maven's facility. The weird thing is I went online directly to their website and it shows there are rooms available. (Pics are a snapshot of their site ) It was a good thing we flew first, our flight was nice and easy so we were very calm about it. We would not be as calm if we didn't have the opportunity to relax and unwind. I brought this matter up via Amex and they are working on resolving this matter but I was told it will take up to 72 hours to get this issue resolved. Unfortunately, we are flying home by then. If this matter does not resolve properly I will consider eliminating my Amex and replace with Reserve Chase. I have very high expectations when I m holding a platinum card and that goes with any service that brands itself the luxury selection. We love Denver so coming here for a long weekend to celebrate special occasions is our thing. Many times we stayed with the Art hotel, they have provided us with outstanding service and exceeded our expectations. Likely we will return to the Art hotel from now on. Trying something new is good apparently for us this time is not so great. I would not recommend this hotel if you are expecting this place to act and behave like 4 stars/hotel collection brand. I m not sure how they even get these titles.
Editing my review as of 11/6/2021at 2:18 pm we got a call from the Ralley hotel asking me why we haven't checked out yet she then told me that when Maven's representative walk us over he only mentioned it was only for one night stay. Our current room key is now not working and we have to visit their front desk for a replacement key. The Ralley has not yet branded itself as a luxury hotel so I have no problem with the Ralley hotel. My major problem is with the Maven hotel due to a lack of communication, professionalism, and lack consideration.
Update my review 11/12/2021. Maven's hotel compensated for the inconvenience of our stay and gave us a discount. We are still skeptical to rebook with them but giving them credit for at least resolving the matter even after we check out. That shows they still value...
Read moreMy wife and I chose to stay at the Maven for part of our trip to Colorado. The location is great, as there’s a ton of great restaurants, breweries, and boutiques in close proximity to the hotel. Our room was also very spacious and clean.
Some of the “extras” we enjoyed were the complimentary transportation car, free daily drip coffee and drink, and savings coupons at nearby restaurants. However, make sure you indicate that you want to use your discount when buying something. Even if you indicate you’re staying at the hotel, none of the places will apply the discount without you explicitly asking.
The complaints I have with this hotel are mostly all customer service related. This is probably the lowest quality service I’ve received from a 4-star hotel.
They do not service your room daily, unless you call the front desk. At first we couldn’t figure out what to do to have our room serviced. Then, we found out that you have to contact the front desk and let them know you want your room serviced. After letting the front desk know, our room was never serviced.
We ended up coming back to an undone room in need of our trash being taken out, more tissues, extra towels, etc. We called the front desk and they apologized, but said it was past housekeeping hours. They ended up sending someone up to our room to hand us the stuff we needed.
I think that being a 4-star hotel, some kind of servicing is a must. Claiming that this is done for sustainability purposes is a cop-out in my opinion. If “sustainability” has to do with the soaps, lotions, etc. then provide additional of these items by request only. Room servicing is one reason I choose to stay at nice hotels rather than in an airbnb.
I don’t stay at a nice hotel to have trash filled in the trash cans, run out of tissues, reuse towels/ wash-cloths, etc. Also, while this didn’t matter much to me, this was also the first 4-star hotel that no one has offered to help us get our luggage’s to the room. The next hotel we stayed at in Colorado, they held our bags and took them up to our room before they called to say our room was done.
EVERY hotel (and even one airbnb) I’ve stayed at has serviced my room automatically or has had a simple and easy way to indicate I want the room serviced (button or sign).
Despite these hiccups in service, the rest of our stay was really good. We had a lot of fun and got the pleasure of having an amazing bartender in Poka Lola. She provided excellent customer service and was extremely friendly.
While I would’ve preferred to have our room serviced, they did make a small adjustment to our bill as a way of saying sorry for the lack...
Read moreWhether you're a local looking for a quick getaway, or a traveler seeking an authentic Denver experience, The Maven Hotel at Dairy Block offers a slice of urban paradise that's not to be missed.
The Maven Hotel at Dairy Block is a boutique hotel located in downtown Denver’s LoDo neighborhood. Dairy Block is a vibrant micro-district with 19 restaurants, 15 shops, 7 bars & a luxury coworking space - having such easy access to all of these places really upped the energy & fun of our weekend.
We arrived at The Maven and valeted our car; the valets provided stellar customer service during our entire stay. Each one was friendly & speedy with car handling. The Maven is dog friendly & we brought our pup Forbes along with us (the valet gave him treats which was a great touch). Several unique art pieces & welcoming smiles from the front desk greeted us in the hotel lobby. The Maven's lobby showcased a suspended art piece of an open hand made up of reclaimed wood - 'The Quantifiable and The Ineffable' made by Colorado artist Andrew Ramiro Tirado.
We stayed in an Innovator Suite King room, an expansive 525 - 575 sq. ft urban loft space. The room had a full sofa, wet bar, dining table, & flexible workspace. The room featured a 2D mixed-media mural by Karen Fisher - ‘Mod Maude’. The mural’s fashion model imagery was fun & powerful. The king bed was super comfortable, and Forbes approved.
The room had a huge balcony with city views of Denver. There were floor-to-ceiling windows with two doors leading out to the balcony.
The luxury bathroom amenities included two sinks, two vanity seats, & a massive shower.
Dairy Block's alleyway was pedestrian & pet friendly - the clean paths, art installations, and array of shops and restaurants offered a unique and engaging experience. One of the highlights of our stay was the Colorado Wine Walk right in Dairy Block's alleyway. As an enthusiast of both wine & leisurely strolls, we were thrilled to attend this event right at the hotel's doorstep.
During our stay we dined at Kachina Cantina located in the Maven’s lobby for brunch. Kachina is now serving brunch on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Their brunch was so good that we dined here Saturday & Sunday - repeat customers!
Our staycation at The Maven Hotel at Dairy Block was a delightful blend of relaxation, city exploration, & quality time with our furry friend. It served as a reminder that a change of scenery, even within our own city, can provide a...
