My recent visit to Union Station in Denver was nothing short of spectacular, and it deserves every bit of this 5-star review. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the station's rich history and stunning architecture.
Union Station stands as a testament to Denver's historical significance and architectural grandeur. Originally opened in 1881, the station has witnessed the growth and transformation of the city over more than a century. Walking through its halls, you can almost hear the echoes of the past – the bustling crowds of early 20th-century travelers, the whistles of old steam locomotives, and the quiet moments of soldiers bidding farewell to loved ones.
The meticulous restoration of Union Station is a marvel in itself. The preservation of its historic elements, such as the grand Beaux-Arts facade and the iconic "Travel by Train" neon sign, seamlessly blend with modern touches, creating a perfect harmony between old and new. The interior is a feast for the eyes, with its soaring ceilings, ornate moldings, and elegant chandeliers that harken back to an era of opulence and sophistication.
One of the highlights of my visit was the Great Hall, a magnificent space that serves as the heart of the station. The Great Hall’s grandeur, with its majestic windows allowing natural light to pour in, provides a perfect setting to sit back and soak in the atmosphere. The beautiful blend of marble and wood, coupled with the vibrant hustle and bustle of travelers and locals alike, made it an unforgettable experience.
I was particularly impressed by the attention to detail in the design and restoration process. Every corner of Union Station tells a story, from the original ticket windows that now serve as unique dining spaces to the historical artifacts displayed throughout the station. The blend of historical preservation with contemporary amenities offers visitors a chance to enjoy the past while experiencing modern comforts.
Union Station is not just a transportation hub; it is a vibrant gathering place filled with a variety of dining and shopping options. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick coffee, a leisurely meal, or simply browsing through the unique shops, there is something for everyone. The atmosphere is lively, yet there are plenty of spots where you can find a quiet corner to relax and watch the world go by.
In conclusion, Union Station in Denver is a remarkable landmark that beautifully encapsulates the city's history and architectural beauty. My visit was a delightful journey through time, and I left with a deep appreciation for the efforts taken to preserve this iconic structure. Whether you're a history buff, an architecture enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique place to visit, Union Station is a must-see destination that will...
Read moreIt's funny how the only people who have a decent review of this trainwreck of a Terminal are tourists. They usually don't really understand the bigger issues.
RTD is one of the nations worst transit operators. Let's be clear about this. One of the worst ever!
The level of service is non-existent and has the worst staffing ever. They contract with several companies to try to get drivers but nobody will go to work for them.
RTD just gave up. Gone are the days when people where human and had respect. I challenge everybody who works in either logistics, planning, or their top flight security should have to take the bus and train for 30 days. Not just to the game or concert but everywhere. Doctor, work, groceries, school, and of course I would challenge you to find a bathroom at any RTD stations. And if you win the lottery and find a bathroom it will be closed for some imaginary reason. It's always closed during the primetime commute. This picture is the last in a series of 9 pictures taken throughout the day. The sign never changed.
RTD escalators at Union Station leaving the terminal have not worked for two weeks. Such waste of resources.
Also they have the bulk of there security staff downtown. So all you muggers and thieves can continue to abuse there customers and smoke FENATYL in the terminal.
The Boulder station has not even started the clean up. What's really going on? If RTD and the city of Boulder are changing there original agreement they should be fined. Massively!
If you live in Boulder and commute to Denver your burned. No terminal bathroom in Boulder or Union Station you can use. Way to go RTD. Anymore excuses.
Maybe this needs to be addressed by our community. We need an RTD Town Hall but everybody that RTD has taken advantage of would turn out and we would probably never get anywhere.
You have no idea how broken you are.
This must change.
We also contacted the state so they could come do an inspection for Meth contamination. We have been noticing durning the past week you having cleaning crews clean the surface of the vents on the terminal. What's in the Air Vent? So they have another excuse to defer proper service to taxpayers and full fare RTD riders.
How dare you call yourself a...
Read moreUnion Station Denver is the last stop of the N Line from Eastlake & 124th station in Thornton. It takes about 25-30 minutes from end to end. The building, as you can imagine, is very very old and it has so much character to it. The building is surrounded by many restaurants. Inside the building, there are more restaurants and shops. It is very spacious and has high ceilings. Interior is just very nostalgic and beautiful.
On the ground floor there are several business such as a coffee shop, dessert shop, book shop and a small handmade jewelry shop to new a few. There is also a Snooze restaurant that's open from 6am-2pm. Their breakfast is awesome. In the center of the building are several seating areas. Some are soft chairs, couches, wooden benches, and there are even desks where you can use your laptop at.
The second floor, and I think there is a third floor too, is where the hotel rooms are. The rooms are very expensive though, and so are the other shops inside the building. A small bottle of water was $6 at one of the shops.
For me, as a parent with young kids, my favorite part is outside the station. In front of the station, there is an area that has water fountains shooting up from the ground. They have this on during the hot months and kids love it. Free...
