Besides niche specialty tea shops such as Milk Tea People, Ku Cha and Tea Cloud, found it was not easy to find more mainstreamed boba tea shops downtown. Luckily ran into one behind the Union Station. Tao Tea, formerly Daboba, was at the ground floor of Cadence Union Station and was spacious and modern looking compared to other boba places in town. They had a variety of boba drinks, including roasted brown sugar and regular brown sugar boba milk, milk tea, chocolate, matcha and espresso. For boba milk tea, they had the one with black tea, Jasmine green tea or Japanese oolong tea, as well as Thai tea, grass jelly milk tea and Chinese milk tea. They also had fruit tea, frappe, yogurt drinks, creme brule and hand whisked matcha latte and hot drinks, including artisan coffees. Indeed quite a selection. For dessert lovers, they had freshly made Taiyaki. Ordered the roasted brown sugar boba milk tea with red bean Taiyaki. The boba was well prepared and chewy. The roasted brown sugar was aromatic and had a hint of smoky and earthy taste, but not overly sweet. What surprised me most was the Taiyaki. Very authentic and probably the best tasting one in town with the right crispy texture and lava like red bean paste filling. Don't know why they changed the name from Daboba to Tao Boba, but the offering was pretty...

Doboba is a cool spot with an interior you would love to hang out in. Supported by a nice array of board games at the ready.
The boba is decent, but not great. I got the Passion Fruit Jasmine Tea, it was probably a 3 out of 5. Extremely sweet and you could hardly taste the Jasmine tea. Would definitely recommend you guys ask for light sugar. They also ran out of Lychee Jelly, so was disappointed, didn't want double boba in my drink so substituted it with grass jelly. They don't let you know that's an option, I think that's on purpose.
They also ran a special for the Ube Home Run, but there was virtually zero Ube taste. Very disappointed, just tasted like milk. This drink was a 1 out of 5. Ube Struck Out.
Overall, good...
Read moreI was a little hesitant at first...I went before their rebrand, when they were Daboba and no matter how many times I went, I didn't like any of the drinks my sister or I tried.
But with that said, my friend and I went opening weekend and tried their new-ish menu. The Dalgona Coffee is absolutely delicious! Phew I had Dalgona while in South Korea so it makes me soooo excited and happy I found an option back home that tastes delicious and reminds me of my time abroad. Although, once to the bottom, the coffee cream (or whatever it is) is super bitter! And this is even after I was stirring it constantly.
I also appreciated that with the addition of Taiyaki to their menu, they had a cheese option...mainly because I don't enjoy Nutella and sometimes I don't feel like red bean. So a third option had me feeling...
