Food: I ordered three desserts. Only one was halfway decent (frozen dulce de leche) with its downfall being the dry crumbly cookie topping, which was bland to boot. (The caramel and ice cream parts were tasty, which is why I'm giving two stars.) As for the other two items, sadly, it seems that they went wrong in every way they could have. The deconstructed lemon pie had a meringue on top that literally exploded when I applied pressure to try and cut into it. It was hard as a rock and didn't have a single molecule of moisture in it. Would definitely have damaged my teeth if I tried biting it. The pie crust was dry and tasteless. The third item was the lemon bread, which was more like a lemon muffin. It, too, was dry and mostly tasteless. There were a few small pockets of lemon curd which gave it the lemon flavor. Otherwise, very subpar.
Service: I used the self-service kiosk to order and the delivery was through a locker, so there's no service to speak of there. I would've given 3 stars to indicate that service was neutral if it weren't for this next part. I filled out the feedback survey sent by the business after my purchase, and detailed everything I mentioned above about my experience with the food. I asked for a refund, explaining that I spent $30 when my experience was maybe worth $5. They took two weeks to respond to me, and all I received was an email saying they would work to be better and hoped I'd return. No acknowledgement of my refund request, or even a gift card to entice me to return. It's wild to me that I'd be expected to give them a second chance when they've given me absolutely zero reason to do that. This has earned them 1 star for service.
Atmosphere: It's a dingy room in a warehouse in an isolated industrial part of town. It's a dead end with very limited parking, which was full up, so people were double-parking in front of the curb. With so many pickup orders and so little space, our vehicle got blocked in while we were trying to leave. The ordering and delivery is all remote and I didn't interact with a single human being. There's a couple of chairs where customers can wait while their order is prepared. While I was waiting inside, I observed one of the live humans behind the desk being quite rude and raising their voice at another customer, who was not a native English speaker and was asking for...
Read moreI was excited to try this place based on the reviews. I ordered: croque madame breakfast special that comes with juice and choice of coffee (I chose cappuccino) French breakfast special for my boyfriend (chocolate croissant, butter croissant, two beverages) lemon cake.
They forgot the lemon cake in my order, which very much annoyed me considering their entire business is carry out orders, and they do not have dine in options, therefore my order was written on my receipt stapled to the bag. As a place who only allows take out, orders should be consistently correct and checked before sending. I called to explain what happened, they asked if I could come and get it, but I was already 30 minutes away on my way to the lake for the day. I offered to refund me for the cake, and I agreed, but this refund never arrived. (Ordered this sept 7, writing the review sept 14th, so this seems fair).
Cappuccino was simply not a cappuccino and my guess was that it came from a Keurig or nespresso machine.
The croissants were good but not mind blowing, according to my boyfriend. I was stuck wondering at the end if they are really made in house or not. And then, I kept wondering as I ate, how much of this was “real French bakery” and how much is just the facade they put on to be a successful delivery business with large profit margins.
Croque madame was sub par. I could make a better one myself. It was edible but not a memorable experience.
They do include natalies organic juice in each order, which is wonderful and delicious. Yum.
In my opinion, a three star review is “average”, so I am giving two stars because this was a below average experience, but everything was...
Read moreThe blueberry Palova stated it was a cake with a blueberry sauce vanilla ice cream and meringue. The description actually sounds like something delicious and magical and usually I wouldn't spend $12 on a dessert but we had to get it because of how good it sounded. well it turned out to be literally just ice cream, blue berry sauce and whip cream not very impressive or matched the description. If I wanted just ice cream I could of got 2 pints for the price of that small cupped ice cream. Second thing we got was the VALRHONA GUANAJA CHOCOLATE FONDANT AND VANILLA SAUCE the picture and description was nothing compared to what we received. it was literally a thin brownie for $7 the most expensive brownie I've ever payed for in my life. $20 for two very...
