everyone's just raving about this place on here so obviously had to check it out!
We were the only customers during lunch hour, which was just weird for a place that is apparently so good.
the owner came and talked to us for like an hour, what more? We were three women and one man, he proceeded to only talk to my partner who is the man(see what I did there 😊), and wasn't talking to me, his cousin or mother. Which I questioned and said that is very rude, then he gained the confidence in talking to just me.
We would have all been happy to talk to him about our experience there, but for a few minutes, not during our entire visit there, and not if he's already ignored most of us.
He jokingly mentioned that he paid for all these reviews, which I kinda believe now that I've tasted the food. He raved about the each dish there, influenced our ordering and we were all completely disappointed once they arrived. Any dishes that we were promised were spicy, were clearly not. Any dishes that we were promised were fusion, were just made more conveniently for them and absolutely not fusion food items.
For example, I ordered non veg, his mom and cousin ordered veg dishes, we all tasted the gravy of the dishes and it was exactly the same. So he did mention that this is what they do, and it is very smart, they make gravies/base of the dishes and then add whatever meat/veggie you order, so basically everything is kinda the same, which could have still been a good idea if they tasted as great as he raved for a LONG time!
They all tasted bland, I could only think that the people who are leaving crazy positive reviews either like bland food or are being nice to the "friendly" owner, or are given incentives.
The waiter who took our order was way more professional! However a lady came with food one by one and just dumped everything on the table wherever she wanted, we moved them around ourselves and then realized the orders were not correct still, then she gave some kind of stupid rude comment and took off, never came back with the correct order to which we talked to the other waiter and he went and got the stuff we asked for.
The owner also offered a "special"vegetarian dish full of "flavors" ,asked us our preference about the spices etc, and then sent another bland bunch of chopped veggies, semi sauce, no idea what that was but it wasn't tasty.
Instead of complaining about every other restaurant whole time we were there, told us wrong information about the food, got our orders wrong, sending a terribly rude waitress that we didn't even deal with while ordering, talking to us while we were trying to eat, talking to only the man in our group, if you would've just made sure the quality of the food was good, it would've been great! That's all you need to do, at least firstly. We will not be returning unless way in the future you have actually put your time and effort into the food and not just talking about it 🤷 overall a long bad experience.
PS: I have four friends who own greatly successful restaurants, my partner's family owns couple of the biggest Indian restaurants globally, we are kinda credible sources for...
Read moreThis was the worst Denver dining experience we have ever had. We went with friends for Restaurant Week. We thought we were going to be given a Restaurant Week menu when we arrived, but were told we could just order an appetizer, entree and dessert from the menu ($35 each were the announced Restaurant Week prices-but this did NOT end up being what we were charged). After we ordered drinks, we ordered 4 appetizers. All 4 came to the table timed very far apart. We waited at least 45 min from when 1st to last appetizer arrived. They also brought out an appetizer we had not ordered- we sent it back. After we had left the restaurant, I realized we had been charged for the appetizer we sent back (as well as a chutney which we HAD ordered, but never received). 2 of us ordered Dahl Soup. There were absolutely no lentils in this soup, just broth. Very strange. The entrees and desserts were just "OK", nothing at all to write home about. And when we ordered one entree as spicy, it did not come out of the kitchen as spicy. It was mild at best. We ended up sitting in that restaurant for over 3 hrs because the service was so very poor. Water glasses were never filled, dirty dishes were not taken away. And then the bill was incorrect. Our waitress did not seem to understand the billing AT ALL, so I gave up and decided to get it cleared up later. A few days later I emailed the restaurant. After at least 3 emails, they agreed to give us a very tiny refund of $16 (it did not even cover the cost of items we were charged for, but never received). This was an EXTREMELY frustrating experience. We spent well over $200 for the 4 of us. I expected WAY better food, service and ambience (the place is brightly lit and loud when there are a lot of people there). Our friends traveled from Boulder County to meet us here, and I felt badly that the meal experience was so poor. Run, don't walk, away from this restaurant. There are MUCH better...
Read moreVery friendly owner and staff. The food is excellent. The samosas were great, but the momos (a dumpling served with a savory curry paste) were even better. We tried the Peshawar naan in addition to garlic naan. Both were very good, light, fluffy, and not too chewy or thick. It was difficult to pick a favorite between the lamb vindaloo and the chicken curry. Both were rich, fragrant curries with perfect flavor, served with proper basmati rice. They offer 5 levels of heat for each curry, ranging from mild, medium, medium-hot, hot, and India-hot. Medium had enough heat to tell it was there, but I think medium-hot or even hot would be manageable (I like spicy but not face-melting heat). Indian-hot might be an adventure, but I'll save it for a night when I don't have anything going on. The mango chutney was excellent as well, a solid choice for cooling the heat and it serves as a good counter to the rich curry. All of the servings were good-sized and very high quality, and every dish was flavorful. They also have a full bar with lots of premium liquor, several wine choices, and a small but solid beer list (the Avery Rascal went well with the food). The #4 cocktail is excellent, but the standout was the off-menu mango lassi rum cocktail the bartender invented, a pina colada-like creamy mango concoction. We njoyed our dinner, taking with the friendly staff, and the pleasant dining room (low lights, not-too-obtrusive Indian music, and nicely designed interior). We've since been back a couple more times and had almost all of the curries. Butter chicken is our guilty favorite, but all of...
