Warning- this restaurant DOES NOT not take food allergies seriously at all.
My office is in the neighborhood and while we frequent several places- have never tried this place out so we a took chance.
First glance- empty. Bartender not super friendly or attentive. We looked the menu up online because one was never offered to us and inquired about GF options. Server took some time to explain which ones would be safe to consume and informed us that GF is an additional charge. Totally understandable. The app we ordered came out fairly quickly, we shared it and 25 minutes later our “additional charge” gluten free bread arrived. I asked the food runner/manager if the bread that arrived with the food was gluten free which she responded “are you celiac?” While dietary preferences are prevalent, not sure why that patronizing question prying into someone's personal health came before an apology. (Also- never got that apology). FYI- really not relevant whether the symptoms are life-threatening or just cause debilitating health issues. Just overall poor hospitality.
Let's add insult to injury- they charged us for everything- even added an additional $5 to a bottle of wine that was on our check. Was not even worth mentioning as I know I will be spending the next few days off with autoimmune symptoms, what's $5? After a member of our party inquired as to why we were charged for the illness-inducing food allergy appetizer (only $12, by the way) that they chose not to take responsibility for, it was begrudgingly removed from the check. Ah, but that $6 gluten free bread that showed up at the end of the meal was left on.
All of it- the experience with the complacent waitstaff, the condescending management, plus the the lack of care for dietary restrictions for their patrons. Will never go back. We are extremely lucky to live in a city where the culinary scene is absolutely incredible and the lack of care for allergies is inexcusable. Plenty of other lovely hospitable places in Cherry Creek and beyond....
Read moreWe went for Denver Restaurant Week on a Sunday night. Our server was lost in the weeds from the beginning. He told us right away that “there are a couple of big parties here so I might not see your food when it comes up.” I appreciate the honesty, but at the same time that’s not what you want to hear at the start of a $150 meal that I made a reservation for days in advance.
Our first two courses came out at the exact same time, which in and of itself wasn’t a big deal, if less than ideal, but then we waited for no less than 20 minutes with no food before our entrees finally came out (all the while looking around at everyone snacking on bread that we never received). Eventually, after eternity passed with zero attention, I received what was easily the worst beef short rib I’ve ever put in my mouth. I say that a bit tongue in cheek because I could only put about 30% of it in my mouth, and even then was close to the onset of lockjaw trying to chew it.
To add insult to injury, my date ordered a Hendricks martini extra dirty and it was savagely butchered to the point of indistinction. Apparently extra dirty was interpreted as “dump vermouth in until it’s an abomination”, we think, because the drink smelled and tasted like rubbing alcohol and there was nay a drop of brine in the glass. The server apologized for screwing up because he’s “not a martini guy”. Say it isn’t so!
Last but not least, when it came time for dessert my Tiramisu magically transformed into bread pudding before reaching the table. By this point it was just time to get out of there with all haste.
You know something went horribly wrong when you get misty eyed driving by a Taco Bell on the way home thinking about what could have been.
Highlight: My girlfriend DID enjoy her lobster ravioli, which I suppose is the saving grace that earns Cucina Colore 2 stars...
Read moreMy wife and I went to this location for a nice Valentine's Day Dinner. I ordered the steak and scallops which was recommended by our server. I ordered my steak cooked medium and when my plate came out my steak was well done and I didn't have any scallops on my plate. I showed the server this and she informed me she would get this fixed and the manager would be over to talk to me. My wife had her food at this time. The manager came over and advised that they don't usually cook steak and apologized for the mess-up. He offered me another cocktail on the house which I declined due to already having a cocktail and all I wanted was one. While I sat, talked to my wife, and watched her eat, she completed her meal when my food finally came out. The steak still wasn't cooked correct and I only had one scallop on my plate. I informed the server again and asked for a different manager. A different manager came to the table, asked what can he do to make things right, and offered me a cocktail. I declined and informed him it was upsetting that my wife and I were hoping to have a nice dinner together on V-Day and instead, we watched each other eat. He also informed me that steak isn't something they usually cook. When we received our bill, there wasn't any type of discount for the mistake. We had to ask before we received a discount, my food wasn't comped. Most restaurants would comp a meal for this issue, I was disappointed in the management. If your cooks can't cook steak, then don't have it...
