I was initially excited to try this place since it's hard to find casual yet elevated food in this area, and it had decent reviews. Big mistake! We sat at the bar, where the bartender was training a newbie. Totally fine and understandable — have been in the restaurant industry for more than 20 years. We were the only ones at the bar, and the restaurant was incredibly slow (expected for a Thursday). The bartender took a phone call while working, answered it behind the bar, and then stepped outside. Meanwhile, the entire kitchen staff was on their phones. Any special requests we had were forgotten and had to be reminded. The lettuce on the burger was placed underneath the patty, making it soggy and unappetizing. Only two little pickles on the burger? After being ignored for a while, we had to get up out of our barstools and ask for another round, while everyone chatted and paid no attention to the few souls in the place. The food was bland, and the service was even worse. SKIP — and just pay for the parking in Cherry Creek and go to the Cherry Cricket, an actual great...
Read moreWent one night for cocktails, came back for the oyster happy hour they told us about the next night.
I will preface by saying this place is great, definitely check it out, part of my less than 5* review however, is a few compounding things that disappointed me.
The good stuff: Good tasting burgers and fries Stellar cocktails Fun vibe/atmosphere
The not so good: Oyster happy hour is indeed not a happy hour. $30 for 6 is some of the most expensive I’ve come across. The actual happy hour eats/drinks aren’t much of a deal either, more like what I would expect to pay for those items as a regular menu.
The big wig burger, supposed to have bacon, came with no bacon. Didn’t realise till we were almost done though.
Restaurant has additional tip/back of the house fees that they add on without notifying you ahead of time or asking. For a really expensive burger joint, I would guess those were already built into the prices.
One last piece of feedback for the owner if they read these. The kids menu fries, should probably not have your spicy...
Read moreFriendly staff that greets me with a smile as soon as I walk in the door. The wait time to order is short and the food arrives before you know it. During my last visit I had the Big Wig - a very hearty and juicy double patty burger - loaded, with crispy fries, house dipping sauce and a W IPA to drink. They have a good selection of local beers on tap. I noticed that all of the beer is consistently fresh and cold. It's sometimes difficult to pick a drink because they have a very good selection of wine and cocktails as well. If you appreciate a good wine, I recommend coming here. My wife is vegetarian and very picky, but they always seem to accommodate her with a good suggestion of food and cocktails. She's had the Veggie burger and fries, also loves the bite size crispy cauliflower. Her go-to cocktail is the Grand Ave. The W has a very nice, clean and modern look. It's the kind of place to go for some eats, then end up hanging out after for...
