The first time that I visited Viva! Mexi-Coffee Shop, it was purely by happenstance. I was driving in the area one morning and felt like a cup of coffee. I saw the sign for Viva! and also a sign saying "Now Open". I thought to myself 'a new Mom and Pop coffee shop...I'm going to stop here and give it a try'.
I stopped in and had the most amazing cup of coffee (a Latte) and a delicious homemade guava-cream cheese danish. The coffee shop itself has a very inviting, cozy, relaxing and friendly feel to it. While looking around, I saw a couple of Mexican themed hand-painted murals on the walls and some other decorations, which gave the coffee shop an authentic Mexican vibe and feel. After speaking with the owners/operators (Leo and Elisa) in-between other customer's orders, I learned that they just opened Viva! Mexi-Coffee Shop in mid-August. They are also both musicians (Elisa sings and plays the acoustic guitar with Leo on percussions) and they do a lot of gigs locally in the Denver, Boulder and other surrounding areas. They primarily focus on the Latin American musical genre and Elisa sings in both Spanish and Portuguese. They even have a Murphy stage in the coffee shop that folds down so that they can perform for their clientele. Leo is a chef and prepares much of the food and danishes himself from scratch and Elisa is very artistically talented and has a lot of her water color paintings hanging in the coffee shop. I discovered that the murals on the walls are also Elisa's handy work. Elisa's mom has some of her hand-made crafts in the coffee shop as well. Elisa, Leo and their staff are all very friendly and personable and they are all fluent in both Spanish and English.
There is something about owner/operator Mom and Pops (of anything) that draws me to them. Viva! Mexi-Coffee Shop has a unique ambience all its own. Although more simplistic, it is far more genuine and welcoming as compared to the conglomerate-corporate cookie-cutter coffee shop chains that have saturated every street corner of our cities and neighborhoods. I have been to Viva! twice now and thoroughly enjoyed both visits...I didn't want to leave. Anytime that I happen to be in the neighborhood and in close proximity of Viva!, I will be stopping in to enjoy a terrific cup of coffee and to support my new favorite Mom and Pop coffee...
Read moreAs the founder of a local ladies networking group in Denver, I was thrilled to host one of our first events at Viva Mexi Coffee Shop, a delightful Latin-accented coffee shop that serves in-house pastries and prepared foods. Being women-owned and operated, it was the perfect venue for our gathering.
Upon arrival, I noticed there was some construction nearby, which made parking a bit tricky. However, the effort was worth it for the experience that awaited us inside.
I ordered a Chai Latte and decided to try something new for breakfast--the Molletes de Chorizo. This was my first time having this dish, and I found it to be quite interesting and enjoyable!
The staff was very accommodating, ensuring that our group had everything we needed as we gathered and talked. The coffee shop offers a great amount of seating, making it a comfortable spot for meetings and socializing.
The decor is beautifully designed with an artsy and Latin-accented inspiration, creating a vibrant atmosphere that adds to the overall experience. It's a feast for the eyes!

The guava and cream cheese pastry is out of this world. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for quality coffee, food, service, and a warm and welcoming environment 🤩💓 this is a must go to cafe when in Denver, and the street parking has never been an issue for us, but we also don’t mind a short walk if needed! Must try!
My partner loves this spot and I love when he brings me home a guava knot 🥰 today we went in together and the Mexican hot chocolate was perfect with the guava knot.
