Everyone knows the "hole in the wall" places are usually the best. Pizza John's was no exception. We were visiting the area from out of town and saw the reviews online and decided to give it a shot. We knew we were in the right place when we had trouble parking, and it seemed like all of the strip mall traffic was going the same place we were! We were absolutely happy with our meal, and wish we had one local so we could go again!

Atmosphere: Clean, basic, charming interior has a decent amount of seating. But I will say during the dinner rush, while our large party was able to get seated immediately - the lobby quickly filled up with folks wanting to dine in, but being forced to do carry out. You could tell staffing was a bit short, resulting in a bit of a wait. But understandably so, and nothing egregious.

Staff: Despite clearly being busy, all staff was friendly and attentive.

Food: My interest was personally piqued with the Chicken Pickle Pizza. It did not disappoint! We ordered a giant cheese for the kids, a medium supreme, a large pepperoni and black olive, a small chicken pickle and a small BBQ chicken pizza. This fed 4 adults and 4 kids who had a long day. I cannot tell you how often we have leftover pizza. If it tells you anything, there was NOTHING left. Everything was eaten. The crust is cracker thin with toppings all of the way to the edge, making it easy to enjoy your entire slice without "wasting" large pieces of crust. All of the pizzas were tossed with their special seasoning which added a great flavor to their already great sauce.

We're already planning our next trip and have thought about returning to the area. If we do, we will not hesitate to return to Pizza...

Best pizza in the region since 1969... Truth be told I have only been chowing since 1985 but c'mon!!!

Don't want pizza? I think you are crazy, but go ahead and order a hoagie or a turkey sandwich. Add a Sara Salad if you need to feel like you ate your veggies, the house Italian dressing is good enough to drink as a shot. My Grandma has been hooked on the spaghetti for about 3 decades, I like it alright, but only if you ask them to add pepperoni and extra cheese, and they gladly accept special orders so go for it!

Don't get turned off by the few less than stellar reviews you see here. I am sure that if any of these bad reviewers had expressed their concerns to the staff they would have rectified the situation a.s.a.p.

I true gem in south central Kansas. Don't miss out!

After lunch you could visit Sig's Gourmet Butcher just across Kay St.! If you miss the feel of a hometown meat cutter don't pass this up. Justin, his mother, and the entire staff are as old-school as it gets, ask them for anything butcher related!!!

I am nothing more than a VERY satisfied customer of both of these establishments. As such a long term visitor, have I had issues from time to time? Of course. Have I ever felt like I my issues were not resolved beyond what any big company or restaurant or corporate store could do? Never. Stay local, stay loyal. Tell Kristen, Jason, and Justin, that an Old-School...

The food was delicious. It has been CONSISTENTLY delicious for as long as I have been going here. Hell, I drive 20 minutes just eat there. Tonight we called in our dine-in order before we arrived. When we got there, it was ready for us.

You may be wondering, why only 3 stars? The waitress.

She took our drink orders and then delivered our pizzas. After we had a slice or two each she brought the drinks. We realized that we should have ordered the "Giant" size and asked to order a third large. Upon asking, the waitress obviously tried to dissuade us, saying there would be up to a 30 minute wait. With 3 of us still being hungry, we said that was fine. About 25 minutes later, our pizza arrives. During this whole time, the restaurant was not full, social distancing/reduced capacity and all. There was a steady flow of customers picking up orders. We were not asked about, or given an opportunity to ask for refills the entire time. I will be back again because the food is so damn good, but I will probably get it to go in the future.

I hope that future experiences will allow me to revise the star count back up to where it...

BEST pizza and hoagies in town! The pizza is thin and they use a special seasoning that gives it distinction from anywhere else. The sizes are perfect for the pricing. The hoagies are a city treasure! They’re loaded with meats, lettuce, veggies, and the absolute most amazing Italian dressing imaginable! The Italian dressing is a major reason we keep coming back-can’t get enough of it! The Sara salad is a must try, too. The service is great. It’s a very popular place, but it still has that Mom-&-Pop feel to it. The interior could use some updating, but it doesn’t take away from the overall experience. The employees are usually local high schoolers, and they are all great! Hard working, kind, and always give us the sense that they’re happy we’ve come in. I love that we can also now order online because it just adds that extra level of ease!

Service friendly to customers although the employees don't really seem to interact much with each other and look depressed as I waited for my carry out order. The pizza and hoagie were hot and fresh. The pizza taste was average but it seemed that there is an opportunity to be a much better, I'd suggest a better and thicker sauce. The red pizza sauce could be sweeter and more of it. It would make a big difference. As far as the hoagie, it was an italian and pretty good. I'd go with some banana peppers to give it a bit more zip and some optional chipotle/southwest sauce. Not bad but not great. I probably would give this place another star if I had dined in. It looks like fun place to eat with a group and it was busy so that proves that out.
