I have lived in Desert Hot Springs since the 1980s. In my opinion not a lot of good restaurants choices here. I have read both positive and negative reviews about The Spread, and after all this time decided to give them a try after being laid up due to a surgery. My son stopped by there to bring me home a Cobb salad a few days ago. It was terrible. They used shredded thin, lettuce, which I'm sure it's because of the sandwiches they also make. The lettuce was saturated in water and made the salad extremely soggy. The meat in the salad, which is typically chunks of chicken was instead thinly sliced deli sandwich slices of turkey and ham, nothing to bite into, no chicken at all. They did tell my son ahead of time they were out of hard-boiled eggs, which I was fine with but disappointed. The cheese was a thin slice that was cut into tiny squares and incorporated into the soggy lettuce as well as the other ingredients. My salad did not include the typical chunks of chicken, avocado, and crumbled blue cheese, that is the essence of a Cobb salad. it was a pile of soggy nastiness with incomplete ingredients. I am so glad that it was just me and my son that ordered from here and that it wasn't my out-of-town guests or family that went there. I would've been beyond embarrassed. I will never return there...
Read moreI was a bit nervous about trying The Spread today, especially since the online reviews are quite mixed. When I arrived, I was greeted by a charming building with irresistible aromas that immediately set the tone for a great meal.
I ordered the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and upgraded it to a combo. For my side, I chose the ranch pasta salad, which was exactly what I expected—delicious and satisfying. The salad didn’t look very appetizing at first glance, but it tasted fantastic, and I was happy with my choice. The veggies in the salad were incredibly fresh, provided by a farmer in the Dell—if you’re local, you know that means top-quality ingredients.
The real standout was the Buffalo Chicken sandwich on cheddar jalapeño bread—it was outrageously good. I definitely plan to order it again. I also appreciated that they carry Mexican Coke, which is always a nice touch.
Overall, I’d give this place a 10 out of 10. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and patient with me as a first-time customer trying to decide what to order. If you’re in Desert Hot Springs, I highly recommend stopping by The Spread. It’s a...
Read moreI heard many great things about this place and today I decided to give it a try! Upon going in I am stunned by the gorgeous decor inside, and immediately greeted by two lovely ladies working. They were very nice, gave me time to look at the menu, and talked with my boyfriend and I while we waited for my sub! Now for the sub, was by far the best sub I've had living in California. I ended up choosing the Chipotle Chicken. All the ingredients were fresh, it had the perfect amount of condiments. Oh, and they also make fresh potato/pasta salad! I was recommended the potato salad, and let me say it did NOT disappoint! It was soo flavorful and definitely was freshly made. I was so impressed and I was left with such an impression by the beautiful decor, staff and delicious sub I had to fight my boyfriend for (he loved it) I had to leave a review. I will be...
