Here is the deal Emily W makes this bar an absolute must when in town. I am currently visiting Detroit for the first time and needless to say I had a great first experience in city largely because of her. Not only was she a terrific bar tender but her ideas, jokes and recommendations were so on point it was crazy. She was so attentive and kind with us even when it got to be a full bar. Normally I only will sit at a bar for an hour or so but I ended up sitting there for hours, that is how amazing she is.
Hello again I am updating this post as I went back to brisa bar again for drinks and snacks after the lions game (hoping Emily was there again). Today was a totally different experience, there were two bar tender a young male and female these two very clearly could not have cared less. They were borderline rude the entire duration of our time there. To start they didn’t give us menus which is fine because we knew what we wanted because we were literally there the previous day. Then they were more interested in talking with two younger gentle than any of the others customers sitting there. Not only that but the girl had her vape just sitting out on the counter all willy nilly. Yes we are outside but a little discretion would have been appreciated. Next it took about 15-20 minutes for either bar tender to ask if I wanted another drink after looking at my empty cup roughly 7 times. Then the two men that were the focus left but the female bar tender had them move the chairs they were using to under the stairs so no one would be able to sit there anymore. As a server and bar tender myself I thought this was strange. Maybe 15-20 minutes later they came back with ice cream and a slushy ocean thing for the bar tender herself. She promptly ate that leaning against the bar not even glancing at the full bar around her. Not to mention the use of phones a quick text here and there sure but having your phone in your hand and paying a great deal of attention to it was very off putting. Needless to say we missed Emily. Her vibe her service and her attention to her customers is unmatched. She works hard and the difference is night and day. That girl deserves a dang raise. I just thought a manager should know as we are leaving the city in the morning and...
Read moreHad a horrendous experience here. My girlfriend and I came to the bar mid afternoon on a Saturday and it wasn’t overly busy. The bar is a square, so there are multiple bartenders around. There was a small line (2 people), but I’ve been to hundreds of bars in my life and I’ve never seen a bar where you had to wait in a line instead of finding an open spot at the bar. At least not without specific signs saying so. There was no signage or any indication that you had to wait in line, but we waited behind those two people at first. After a minute or so, people sitting at the bar got up, and we moved out of the line and sat in the seats. She served the guy sitting next to us, who was not in line, while we sat there. After 10ish minutes, one of the bartenders (didn’t get her name, but she had dark hair and wore sunglasses) came up and asked us “what are you guys doing?” in a VERY rude tone. We answered something like “we were going to order a drink” and she said, very angrily, “there’s a line” and looked at us like we were idiots. We immediately left.
If she had politely told us that we have to wait in line, there would be no issue. But she was extremely rude for no reason. I saw her speaking very condescendingly to a coworker as well. I imagine she’s not one of the more likable people working there.
I will not return to this bar and I advise anybody else to avoid this place. It seemed very disorganized, even without that experience. We were excited to hang out at the beach at Campus Martius and this ruined our experience. I’ve had very few worse experiences with staff at a...
Read moreWent with a group of colleagues yesterday during happy hour. The place was lovely to hang out at. But the bartenders' service was surprisingly terrible. From the get, both bartenders looked visibly annoyed at us, especially when we walked up and ordered our drinks from the happy hour menu during, again, happy hour (around 4:30 p.m.).
The male bartender didn't put prosecco in one of my colleague's aperol spritz (seemed to not know how to make one at all) and only took her order while another colleague and I were completely skipped and waited several minutes before the female bartender took our order. We were surprised by the wait since this was before any sort of "dinner" rush.
And when we later paid for our drinks upon leaving, the other bartender proceeded to tell us that the happy hour menu that we referred to on BrisaBar's website was "out of date" and said she was going to charge full price for our drinks. However, when we got our receipts, we were charged the happy hour prices. It was very off putting and confusing.
Otherwise, the other staff were very nice and it was a nice place to hang out after work. But we are hesitant to return because of that service alone. We understand if we were looking at an outdated menu but we should've been told from the get-go about that "change" when we were ordering, not upon paying. Hopefully that happy hour menu can be updated...
