The Sugar Factory Detroit inside the old Compuware building did not disappoint. The experience you have is up to you. This is a very popular place on the weekend. Please don’t expect everything to be perfect. Order a drink, look at the menu and pack your patience. Our servers was extremely nice given the circumstance of them having other tables, having to dance, take orders and deliver them to the table. We rsvp’d for 25 people for my daughter party (which required a $200 deposit). We still had to wait an additional 30 min to get our tables. We understood because it was busy. While we waited we took pictures and explored the little candy shop/gift area. They have nice backgrounds to take plenty of pictures on the inside and outside. Our food was pretty good. We ordered a variety of food. The Cajun chicken Pene Alfredo, Turkey Melt burger and Big cheesy burger was very good! The steak was just okay. The Butterfinger Sundae was very tasteful. The extra large goblet drinks are worth it if you pick the right one. The Hpnotiq Long Island was very strong but lacked flavor. The Watermelon patch was very flavorful. The Fuzzy peach penguin mango was good but not strong. We enjoyed all the Birthday dances. You have to order the World Famous Sugar Factory King Kong Sundae in order for them to dance for your birthday. If you don’t want to pay the full price. Ask if you can purchase a half King Kong Sundae. They have a menu of songs you can choose for the staff to dance too. It’s extremely entertaining. They have happy hour 4pm-7pm at the Bar. They also have a brunch menu and a lunch menu. The lunch menu is Monday-Friday 12pm-4pm. 20% customary service charge is added to all bills. This is a place you must try at least once. Again don’t have high expectations for this particular location because it’s very popular right now. Be kind to the staff because they work extremely hard. Please take everything that they do into consideration. If your food is wrong. Do not take it out on the waiter because they did not cook it. I guarantee you will enjoy the music and the good vibes.

I’ve been wanting to visit Sugar Factory for years so I was super excited when they finally opened a location in Detroit. It’s located in Campus Martius, in the Compuware building, in the space where Hard Rock Cafe used to be. The restaurant itself is quite a bit smaller than I expected, but had quite a few tables of all different sizes. The restaurant is very cute and definitely TikTok and Instagramamble, I can definitely see why the younger crowd likes it. They’re famous for selling lollipops that you can buy refills for (the sticks are blinged out and I think the candy screws on and off—don’t quote me), their huge goblet drinks and the ambiance. I got the shrimp Alfredo and was pleasantly surprised. It was a bit on the pricier end for how much food you got, but it actually had quite a few decent sized-shrimp in it. I also got the unicorn hot chocolate. It’s a super-decadent pink white hot chocolate with white chocolate, sprinkles and marshmallows in it. I mean this thing was SWEET. The person who was with me got a hamburger and I remember thinking to myself that it looked super dry, but I didn’t say anything. He never complains about food at restaurants or sends things back, but he sent this back. I mean, it was like a hockey puck and totally inedible. I believe he ended up getting a club sandwich as a replacement. It was my birthday so I got a few Neapolitan ice cream with a sparkler that was cute. If you order one of their huge, $100 sundaes, the servers come out and do a whole choreographed dance that was pretty entertaining. Another table ordered that and it was fun to watch. Cute restaurant for sure and definitely a great place for selfies and aesthetically-pleasing dishes. Please don’t come here with the expectation of the most amazing food ever. I would come back if invited, but wouldn’t go out of my way to go here again. I can definitely see this as a place for the TikTok girlies. Lots of places to take cute selfies and what-not.

Been wanting to try this place out for quite a while now. Yesterday was my girlfriends birthday (party of 3) and here is how it went. Now mind you, I'm a contractor by trade so I've eaten all over Michigan and all the way down the east coast. Really nice places, and also eat gas station lunches most days. lol Dinner reservations at 630. They were running a little behind which wasn't a big deal. Shortly thereafter we were seated at the table and greeted by our server Niela E (I'd highly recommend asking for someone else). We ordered our drinks, app, and dinner. After about 20 minutes the drinks came 1 by 1 here and there (3 drinks total). After roughly 35 minutes the app came (Rudolph red nose mac and cheese balls). It was good. No complaints thus far except the waitress never came back to check on the table until the app came out. By then my drink was long gone, never was asked for a new one. Dinner came. The salmon was good. Mushrooms tasted horrible, almost like they were going bad and was never properly cleaned, burgers were extremely dry and the buns you could of threw through the window or used as to drive nails through walls. The sliders were so bad even my 7 year old refused to eat them. About an 45 minutes later the waitress came back and had our bill printed before we were even offered dessert. Dessert is kinda the whole point for going to a place called "The Sugar Factory". Anyways, I told her again we were there for a birthday and my girlfriend and daughter ordered dessert (I was already over the place with its lackluster service and subpar food). 25 mins or so later here comes the desserts. My daughter got an ice cream with a brownie, she liked it. My girlfriends dessert was strawberry ice cream w/cheesecake, whipped cream, strawberrys, and chocolate. It was completely frozen. Whipped cream was frozen, strawberries were frozen solid to the point where you would need a chisel to get it apart. We sent it back, they removed it off the bill and still charged me $5 for the candle that came on it. Now time to pay the bill. They automatically charged me 20% gratuity with no option for more or less. Now from my experience gratuity is given to the wait staff based on their performance. In my opinion the waitress was probably 10-12% gratuity tops based on her performance (sub par at best). I normally tip 20-30% by the way. What I don't understand is they take 3% out of the 20% they automatically charge you for a tip to cover a "service charge". One would think that would be included in the high markup of the food and drinks? So not only are they charging you an additional 20% without telling you first, they're also taking from there servers and staff for the ones that actually do their jobs well. Awful $217 was the bill. Honestly, I would have rather eaten at Speedway for $20. Over Priced, Under Delivered, and Highly Disappointed. I wouldn't give them a 2nd chance. It was that bad

Me and my family had 2 reservation for Saturday March 8th. One was at six thirty, and the other one was at six forty five. It was my nephew, third birthday, when we made a reservation for, they has special request, so we request that they sing happy birthday to my nephew, we never got that. Our reservations was at six thirty, I got there early just so we could get our table, and they told us that we had to have seven or more people, so we could sit down.So we say cool, my family showed up, it was over seven of us. They had us waiting almost 25 minutes before they set us down. And then when they set us down, we're sitting right by the door the door that rotates, it's cold, all the air coming in, people coming in and out of that door. And then the music was soooooooo loud.Oh my god,They had a sit in the back.I guess the speaker was right next to us or on top of us.Whatever the case may be, the music was asf loud, it was unprofessional, it was not right? We couldn't hear it wasn't a vibe at all. They took us a minute to give us menus our waitress. He was something else. I think his name was Malachi or something s*** like that, but he was something else. The first he come over to the table. He caught his tips from another table. He barely got our orders, right? We had to wait 25 minutes for our drinks. We had to wait almost an hour for us to just get food. One of my sisters never received her food. My other sister never got her dressing. It was just a whole mess going there. We spent almost seven hundred dollars at this place, They couldn't sing happy birthday for my nephew. And we spent almost seven hundred dollars talking about, it's gonna be extra extra for what we just spent almost seven hundred dollars in here. Me and my family would never go back to here. They was rude. The service was not good at all. I mean, they service sucks. I don't care if it was on a Saturday. They should have better service than that. The waiter didn't even do his correctly job. He made over hundred dollars for what he didn't do nothing, he barely did anything.Well, he made a hundred dollars off my table. I feel that a a waitress supposed to work for their tips.We not just supposed to give you tips just because you worked there.Just because there's a name on the place don't mean you are entitled to a tip or gratuity. I will tell anybody that wants to hear. Never go to the sugar factory downtown in Detroit. Because they are very, very, very unprofessional. Never again 20% for whaaaattttt. We should have the choice to pay our waitress. That's why I call it tip when they do their job when they don't do their job. Why do we have to pay them that don't make sense?Giving our money away to the people that don't do their job.

I was so excited to come here with my friends. We were celebrating a birthday and we heard about what the Sugar Factory did for people on their birthday. What I liked: the atmosphere. This place was the very definition of lit; the music, the decor, it was all so energetic. And the dancing was phenomenal. The routine for my friend was fantastic and she was so happy. The food was also amazing. They have a very diverse menu, but because it was my first time there, I stuck with something simple: the classic Sugar Factory burger. Simple but tasty. Their drinks were my favorite. I split three mimosas with a friend, and in true Sugar Factory fashion, they came with these complementary candy gummies. So good! Unfortunately, there were many factors about the experience that my party and I didn't like. For one, it took them 2 hours to seat us even though we had a reservation. The girl at the front clearly didn't know what she was doing, and she had a bit of an attitude. I understand it was a busy night, but that just isn't professional. When we finally got seated, it took them a while to take our orders, and when they did finally take our food orders, they forgot to take down 2 of our orders. By the time my friends finally got their food, most of us were already done eating. We had similar issues at the bar; 2 of my friends went to get some gummy bear shots at the bar and it took a while before they got them and their check. They had to remake the drinks, too, because they were funky. And even though I enjoyed the dancing, I think it was part of the reason the service was so bad; there were so many other birthdays happening that night besides my friend's. Our waitress said they were understaffed, but if that's the case, they should really be more organized about who serves and who dances. We went up front to pay, my friends who received their food late were thankfully compensated for their meal, but unfortunately they were charged for something they didn't order. Needless to say, they're never coming back. As for me, I'd be willing to give this place a second chance and come earlier for lunch. Hopefully it won't be as busy as it is in the evenings, and the service will be better.

My family came here for a birthday celebration and it was mediocre and overpriced. The flashy deserts are the best part, and while they are photo worthy, the food, and over all experience leaves a lot to be desired. We had a reservation for 6 people, and checking in was a chaotic and disorganized process. There was no one available to check us in or seat us. So we stood at the front for nearly 10 minutes before so were able to be seated. Once we were seated we waited nearly 25 minutes for our server to approach our table and bring water. The restaurant also was not overly busy, so the delay didn’t make sense. When our group went to order items on the menu were not actually available, and the menus had just not been updated. Some of the music played was good, but it was so loud that I could not hear the person sitting directly next to me. In addition much of the music was uncensored, which wasn’t a problem for a group but I do think would have been good to know in advance. Milkshakes were about $25 each and the quality wasn’t great. The flavor was nothing special, the decorative food covered cup was cute but made a mess all over the table. Two people in our group were missing parts of there desert. My Momo didn’t get her donut, and one of my sisters didn’t get the cotton candy. For a $25 shake where the biggest part of it is the flashy toppings ,the waitress brining our drinks without it and saying nothing was very disappointing. The chicken tenders and pretzels were also very clearly just pre made food that had been microwaved. We had to ask our waitress 3 times for my sisters birthday Sunday with the sparkler, and they ended up bringing it at the tale end of the meal. I want to say that I don’t mind nice restaurants, and I don’t mind paying for a good dinning experience. This one though the food and service didn’t match up to the price tag. The bill included a mandatory 20% tip, and pricing information for an additional tip to be left. If you are just going to say that you’ve been to sugar factory that is fine, but I would not go into expecting a quality dinning beer experience or much for customer service.
