I stayed for fourteen nights in May in a “Superior One-Bedroom Apartment” there were a few good and bad things I have to say.
Checking in - People have stated they found the check-in process difficult I didn’t have any issues at all, however, need to know there is no check-in desk. You are provided with a code to your room and the building in an email and through the app itself. Downloading the app is very helpful and will allow you to communicate with the staff in the event of problems.
The room - The bad, the room’s cleanliness was on a par with a hotel’s cleaning level, not ideal when there’s no standard cleaning without request but they do provide cleaning supplies to clean it yourself. The bed linen was relatively clean within the standard of hotel linen and the rug had been walked on by the previous occupants with their shoes on multiple times without being cleaned. There was also damage to the door from where previous occupants had accidentally wedged the door into the security latch, something I did myself almost immediately so I get why they didn’t replace the door. The food disposal in the sink also did not work, but on contacting their customer service I received an immediate response and solution.
The good, the room was nicely furnished it did look pretty and someone took time to design the place to look nice, it came fully stocked with utensils a pretty large television and a surprisingly comfortable pull out bed along with a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, tea and coffee supplies and the like. It also had extra blankets and linen. The bedroom and closet were also spacious and comfortable with extra pillows and the bedroom itself was very well soundproofed. Connecting to the WiFi was also very simple, a card on the table provided the password to it.
The location - The bad, it’s Detroit, you’re in downtown Detroit. It can be a bit scary to walk around outside but I never found any issues. There was also a lot of police often coming by to shop at the 7/11 on the ground floor of the building, and a security guard there most of the time too. It is a pretty touristy part of town and there’s not anything to be worried about. People have complained in the reviews about the noise on the weekend, and that is true but you are in the downtown part of a city on the weekend. It comes with the territory. It’s going to be noisy but the soundproofing is pretty excellent. Unfortunately, there is also no on-site parking, but there is a parking lot behind the building itself. If you do park there ask the morning shift attendant for a fob to open the gate if you’re long-staying, you need a $50 deposit. Do it, you’ll thank me, trust me.
The good is you’re in downtown Detroit within walking distance of Greektown and just about everywhere you could ever want to walk to. You’re also literally above the local shop which happens to be the most guarded 7/11 in the country as apparently every cop shops there so the building is perfectly safe. It’s very close to parking lots, restaurants and very close to the airport along with the general area being very pretty and safe to walk around in.
The conclusion - I would recommend staying here if you’re willing to pay the asking price, it’s not overly cheap, but you are in a great location with your own apartment and all the benefits that...
Read moreI had stayed in a room in Kasa Detroit last and this summer, 3 and 4 nights respectively. Both years, I was not able to leave a feedback directly on their website although I received an email suggesting I could, the link was dead and did not allow me as a customer to rate my stay. In both instances, the room was as advertised but not immaculate at time of check in, I flagged various issues and shared pictures at time of check in, and while online responses reaches you swiftly, no actual support or repair is offered during your stay but a promise that the maintenance team will be informed. While I received an email confirming my early check-in request was accepted (cf. From 13.45) and already making my way walking to the property, I was not able to check in before 16.00, and was told the message was a mistake from their system. I found awfully expensive to be debited 250 USD for a deposit for such a short stay, and hope to be refunded promptly. Now, I am 3 days post check out and still waiting. I also found the room price on a very high hand for what the room really is but it was a great location for the events I attended twice at Hart Plaza in Detroit, walkable distance from Kasa Cadillac. The lack of possibility to leave feedback directly on their website feels like a lack of transparency and accountability from Kasa so honest feedback came between shared to any potential new customers. I have received a countless number of automated responses to my messages which said "this message was not delivered". I also never received a confirmation email about my check in which was surprising as very common in the hospitality industry. The fact that nu human is here to help does not feel appropriate to feel safe and secure in Kasa property. Only location is an advantage. For the reasons above, this is rated poorly, as I had to email several messages just to receive this link by default since their feedback email does not actually leave you to share public feedback and their Help Center does not offer support in this area either. The outside windows were so dirty that even by being located on the 9th floor, I unfortunately could not enjoy the view, obstructed by the view to the nice building and...
Read moreVery nice accommodation in Downtown Detroit. The room was beautiful and very spacious, I loved the modern decor and the bed was quite comfortable as well. The kitchenette was a big plus; I should note I didn't need to use it, however.
This was my first time at a Kasa property. The virtual self check-in experience went super smooth for me, I did not encounter any issues. Honestly I wish more places had this "virtual front desk" where you are sent all info, and can chat to an agent remotely for questions. Only room for improvement when it comes to this is that an app should really be used, rather than a random link sent to your cell number. This would even further streamline managing your own accommodation.
Unfortunately, I can't give this place more than 4 stars. General cleanliness has room for improvement. Some surfaces inside were quite dirty, such as the window ledge and the kitchen table, as well as the nightstands. The shower and sink area could have also been cleaner. The window ledge had a ton of dirt and grime, and the table was sticky. However, the beds were pristine.
Another drawback that made me feel uneasy was the location in downtown Detroit. Several homeless people congregate by the building entry (but there is also a security guard there 24/7 which adds some reassurance). The front door also is passcodr protected. I felt uneasy walking from the parking lot across the street to the main entry. This isn't much of a problem with the property itself, but a problem with the location. The room door could also have more safety features on it, like a deadbolt.
Overall I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay specifically in downtown Detroit. Id also reccommend Kasa in general. I'd definitely consider staying at a Kasa property again, however I am not sure about this one in particular (location related) even though the room features and...
