Came to green dot stables for the second time tonight with my husband and kids. Our first visit was almost a year ago. When we got here it was already very busy as we expected on a Saturday evening. The host gave us a wait time of 30-45 minutes and directed us to a waiting area. She took our phone number to text us when they were ready. What was nice was they have an outdoor room for waiting with tables. There was a bar but no one was working it. They did have a big keg of free water and cups. This was nice with kids.
When it became past 45 minutes we went to check our wait time. Turns out the hostess wrote down our number incorrectly and tried to call us a half hour earlier. She was very apologetic and seated us quickly. It was very crowded and loud so I could see how it would be easy to not hear us correctly. Our waitress Valentina came over and took our drink order. It was almost 15 minutes later before she came back to get our food order. Again it was very busy so I understand if thing’s take a while. Our food came out at a reasonable time frame. My boys got max and cheese and grilled cheese sliders. I got the buffalo sliders which were amazing as well as the chicken Caesar. The chili cheese fries were good. My husband had the Cuban Korean and a few regular sliders. The food overall is great. All fresh. This place mainly only has sliders. There are a few sides like fries, soup and salad. My boys wanted dessert so they got ice cream and the s’mores slider. I ordered a second round of buffalo sliders and it took almost an hour for them to come.
Everything was great except we had a weird interaction with our waitress at the end. My husband took one of our boys to the bathroom and while he was gone she came over with her card runner and wanted me to take care of the tip. I told her my husband would take care of it when he returned. He always takes care of paying and the tip when we are out. She walked away and then returned two minutes later and was impatient with me because my husband had not returned from the bathroom. She said I’m going to need that back referring to the card reader. I was trying to determine the appropriate amount to tip her when she pipes up says I would go ahead and do %25. We had a bill of $92 and while her service was overall good it wasn’t worth 25 percent in tip! Aside from that I thought her comment was rude and unprofessional as well as her impatience to wait...
Read moreI never hand out 5 stars, especially for a first visit. But before you read on, I'll TL:DR ya a solid and let you know if you like sliders and elevated pub fare, this is a must-visit! Sliders. In the Detroit area, the little brother to the big burger is revered. But this is no Crystal or White Castle! The slider gets all the love here, with all sorts of creativity thrown across a selection of 10 or so choices. Plus, for the adventurous, there's a bonus monthly mystery meat option ranging from the odd to the downright awesome. The sliders menu is a gauntlet of YES, I WANT THAT! The stacked Cuban, the old standby American, vegetarian friendly tofu banh mi, the melty Philly... I was overwhelmed. I ended up going with a Korean because kimchi and peanut butter is my thing, and I requested my amazing server to select one. The reply was, "I'm going to get you my favorite," and it was smoked provolone and bacon on the fried chicken and WOW 🤯 To set off my sliders, I had to get the poutine fries, and they did not disappoint. Thick and crispy fries smothered in just enough of the good stuff. My compatriots enjoyed the truffle and herb and another the Cajun. I see salads, mac and cheese, and a few other items, but a very minimal overall menu. That in my experience is one of the marks of a good restaurant. Speaking of the restaurant, the horse racing theme runs outside to inside, and is even playing on the screens scattered throughout the space. It's a cozy overall vibe. The place ran very smoothly in our roughly 90 minute visit. The entire staff was a mix of cool and professional. All smiles, all hustle. The bar filled rapidly as we finished our meals (roughly 1 pm). Point being there were no empty seats! The restaurant was very clean, an observation shared by a few of us at the table. Cost wasn't terrible, especially for a trendy Detroit spot. This place has been featured, mentioned, starred, listed, you name it. It's popular. It's deserving of its success. You expect to pay a bit! Honestly you can get a pretty satisfying meal for a few bucks more than McDonald's. In this current economy I'll take that every day. It's a fun experience and for a few bucks a burger you're getting a little box of love and you taste it in each bite. I'll...
Read moreLove the food. The staff was nasty. This was the third time. The staff was nasty tonight. Did it off we came in and we had 20 minute work. No big deal hostess said you can go to the bar and have a drink and you can go to to the back and go to the patio and sit down and Wait. We went to the barn and sit down in the waitress behind the bar yes, if I was planning on eating at the bar, I said no she will. You can’t sit there. It’s only for people who eat at the bar very nasty. So when the rest of my people got there, we were standing by the bar and we were told that we could not stand there. We had to go back to the patio. The patio was cold so we sat there and waited. OK wait wasn’t long. He goes sit down at our table, the lady came gave us her menu we ordered our french fries came out before our food. The french fries were cold. Then my friend proceeded to stand up and go to the serving station and grab a napkin. The waitress came up and said you’re not allowed to take anything out of the serving station you ask us very nasty. She was very nasty , when the waitress brought our food, we have three different kinds of french fries I’m not sure what you guys figure out just bring the food so the food burgers they just handed it to us. They had no idea who got what very nasty very very nasty we got another waitress and she was much more pleasant, but it was just the whole atmosphere of the staff has gotten so mean there I don’t know what happened Food good.
