Rob's Deli — Restaurant in Detroit

I started going to Robs when I was about 19, 25 yrs ago. My ex and Rob grew up in the same neighborhood. I moved away and visited periodically over the years. The last two times, the service was awful. Today, I did not purchase. The man behind the counter seemed uninterested in any sort of customer service. He was slouched over taking orders, the young lady in front of me asked which cake tasted better, he mumbled something. I left because they do not take electric payments, I did not return with cash because of his attitude. It saddens me that horrible customer service is parallel to black people serving black people. If he was having a bad day, I get it, but based on feed back from my daughter and her family, rude customer service has become the norm. Not sure if the deli was sold to someone else but customer service should be a given… it is my hope that the same energy I remember years ago returns. Laughter was served with a DOPE corn beef.

I went back last weekend…Rob was there, and another guy. Both were friendly as heck…they smiled, chatted and served fast fresh sandwiches. I bought three cornbeef’s. Everything was fresh and yummy! I will definitely...

My father has raved about this place. I decided to try it just bcz of him..then I read Mr. Chimes review and said OK. I always try to support small, black-owned businesses; but when I say this is a Nasty place to buy corned beef..I really mean it. I'm surprised Mr. Chimes ate there. First off, they didn't open on time...11:30 instead of 11am. Then I saw the young lady walk in and did not wash her hands...she worked the register. But what made this place really Nasty was the fact that the young man making the sandwiches did not Use Gloves. He was slicing meat and handling the bread all without gloves. That is Unsanitary! When I asked about that ..the young lady said he washed his hands. I immediately walked out and went to my favorite place...LOU'S deli. I can't believe people actually Eat this. I can't speak or rate how good the corned beef is bcz I didn't try it. Rob..u should be ashamed of yourself. People who eat there...U should be...

This restaurant has great food is why I drive from the westside to the eastside for corned beef sandwiches but they don't have a business phone and they don't stay open according to their business hours. I drove there on Friday, July 5th and got there at 9pm and they were closed but the business hours say that they're open til 11pm. Needless to say I was beyond pissed. I would think that they would be open according to their hours listed especially since they don't have a phone. And that's another thing I don't understand...why don't they have a phone? As much as I like their food I'm really not sure if I'll be taking another blind ride from the westside not knowing whether they'll be open or not, waste of time and gas. They need a phone...
