Views Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Detroit

This was the WORST customer service I have experienced dining out! My friend & I arrived at the establishment around 8p on Sunday. First off, it took like 30-45 minutes before someone even came to our table to take our orders. When we finally placed our orders, we asked about the special they were promoting on their IG page that was supposed to run from noon-2a for Cinco de Mayo. Our waitress, Bonnie was oblivious to what we were talking about so we showed her the flyer and she said she would honor it. My friend & I both ordered shots and tacos. After some time passed, we noticed we still didn’t receive our drinks so we got our waitress’s attention and she proceeded as if she was going to get them. Oh and I almost forgot, we asked Bonnie for lemon for our water about 3 times and never got those neither. We literally had to repeat our order to her about 3 or 4 times before it stuck. On the 3rd round, she finally decided to put the order in her phone. (Why don’t you have a notepad or something of sorts to take our order 🤔). So at this point over an hr has passed and we still don’t have our food or drinks. We were still trying to give grace to Bonnie because she was nice and seemed eager to get our order out to us. More time has passed and another waitress came to our table to get our order. We had to repeat the orders to her like 2-3 times also and then she decided to put it in her phone. Why is it taking two people to get our SIMPLE orders, remind u, the place wasn’t even crowded, there were a handful of ppl there. By this time, it’s been 2 hrs or so and we still don’t have food or drinks. During this time, I’ve watched multiple parties who came in after us get their food/drinks. How sway??! We’re beyond irritable atp and starving!!! So we decided to leave! On the way to our car, we saw both ladies who took our orders, Bonnie and not sure what the other waitress’s name is- she was tall, medium brown skin, and had curly hair, half up half down hairdo with hoop earrings, outside talking and taking selfies with a guy. I don’t even think our orders ever got put in! In addition, one of the waitresses there, Karmen- light brown complexion, braces, boho box braids was very rude!! She should NOT be in the CS business with that nasty attitude and unapproachable demeanor! Her & I ended up exchanging words before I left for good.

I DO NOT recommend this place for anything! They are in need of a complete reservation! The ambiance is not pleasant, customer service was slow. They couldn’t even handle a small crowd of under 20 ppl so I could just imagine how business is ran when it’s crowded, if they even get a big crowd.

I WILL NEVER BE RETURNING!! I wouldn’t even go back if I was offered free food/drinks. STAY AWAY‼️‼️ 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾 🍅...

(Shortly after I posted this, the owner reached out to me and offered an apology and invited me to return . I haven't been able to take them up on the offer but I will soon. I will post another update after my visit but I have to commend the owner for even caring enough to reach out. )

Disclaimer: I spent over 20 years in the service industry, working at "greasy spoons" to 5-star dining and everything in between in my previous work life. This is why before I trash an establishment, I try to visit at least twice. From being in the business, I know that every restaurant has their bad days, so I do my best to be fair.

Now, with that being said, I have been here 3 times. I attended the first time to try them out, the second time (reluctantly) for my best friend's birthday brunch and then last night, because I was with some friends and was out voted on where we should go.

Last night ( Halloween)was the last straw, I don't care who wants to go there or who is having an event there, until this place changes ownership again (usually every several years) I will NEVER cross the threshold again.

My experiences: The pervasive attitude of the people who work here is "Either take what we give you or leave! " Bad energy across the board. Last night, we didn't even get to order any food because our servers attitude was so foul because of a mistake she made, I told my group that I was leaving.

Previously, the food I had was, for the most part, underwhelming. The lamb chops and lobster were both tough and overcooked. The lamb chops did have a great flavor to them but were too tough for me to enjoy. I've also had short ribs there, and they were good, but the sides were meh!!

In my opinion, this place needs a complete overhaul. The decor is cool but that's about it. It seems to be a thing these days at a lot of these types of spots that customer service is NOT a top priority! Overpriced food and drinks, snotty/attitudinal employees, mandatory gratituity for poor service, and inconsistent food...not the recipe of an establishment that cares about the people...

If 0 Stars were an option this is what is deserved. Service was trash, didn’t honor the flyer advertised across multiple platforms, 2 waitresses came (spoke) and taken our order but took 40 minutes for the 1st one to do so, then come to find out our order was NEVER put in for drinks or food….so we were unable to get tacos/drink special and properly celebrate Cinco De Mayo….Total time of wasting was 2 hours….we eventually left after we realized how long it was really taking and realized we couldn’t even go anywhere else for food/drinks! It’s was so late by this time, giving grace and wasn’t even deserved.

Waitress: dark skin girl, long braids seemed nice and eager Bonnie…then the other a light skin with short curly hair didn’t get her name tho. 😒

The owner/manager NEVER came to speak to the table and we requested. 🤔

The bathroom was sooo disgusting and we went back multiple times and it still was the same…dirty floors, trash cans overfilled &’ clogged toilets….one of my friends held her pisss 🤢. Just ghetto.

When we left I reached out to fam who works in the establishment and advised of what went down….i was talked into returning with my friends. So I did, nothing was done about the situation still. I was to the point I was hungry still paid $ and brought a drink or two with a friend and should’ve never did that smh we gracefully said fuxk it and wanted something for all this damn time and I wasn’t getting fast food. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Never again! I should’ve requested my fam from the jump but I seen her busy and gave the other waitress a shot….Biggest mistake! Gratitudity already added should not be done here because the customer service lacks especially after what was seen all last night. My money is earned NOT GIVEN. Nothing was earned last night! Sad, I usually don’t write reviews but I was so disappointed &’ my time was sooo wasted and couldn’t celebrate like I wanted too….so i could not NOT...
