Abysmal, honestly. I travel for work often, and side note that I’m actually from West TN originally, and I like to try local pizza joints. I absolutely have to have gluten free options, though, so finding a local spot with such options is reason to celebrate. Usually. Not this past Monday evening, though. I remember passing a Marco’s on my way to Zander’s, knowing I could get the kind of quality I look for regardless of the crust. And now I am extremely disappointed that I didn’t just go ahead and stop there instead. Hindsight, etc. etc., as they say. I stopped by Zander’s to carry out. The girls at the front were nice enough, took my order - gluten free crust small, pepperoni, light sauce (see receipt). See photos for what I received. Also accepting my own responsibility in this since I didn’t check it before I left, but you know… I figure fellow country folks know how to cook, something I’m no longer taking for granted. Now, light sauce can be pretty subjective, but what I received clearly was not (yes, I peeled the pepperonis off before I took the photo, salvaging whatever I could). At least, not on the right half of my pizza. I ate the left half because I was hungry after a day of traveling. But the cheese situation was similar on that side, too. Not only was the cheese lacking altogether, but the mottling of the cheese was also very off-putting. Fine to have a signature cheese blend, but make sure it’s consistent with what you advertise online. There’s definitely some variance in texture and consistency with what they advertise, but it’s far more appealing in that warm, rustic way on the photos online. What I got was far from it. I wish I had gotten even a frozen GF pizza at this point. It was that disappointing. The next time I stop through Dickson for business or to visit with family, I will not be stopping here. And my mama n’ ā€˜em are going to hear all about it. I even tipped $2 for a carry out order. A little extra care could have been taken here…

We came to Zanders from out of town for a date night Friday a little before 5p. We were sat immediately by the front window and our server was prompt and kind. When I ordered my personal pizza called the Charlotte I requested they not burn the crust sonce its wood fired and can burn easy. They obIiged my request and my pizza was cooked pretty fast...came put before my husband's who had some burnt spots on his pizza. (I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH MY CRUST NOT BEING BURNT BUT I THOUGHT THE OVERALL CRUST WOULD HAVE BEEN THICKER IT WAS THIN) We ordered the Caprese appetizer and both thought it was very delicious and would order it again. Lastly, we ordered a to-go Tiramisu dessert but when they brought it out in a box it was super small like half the size you would normally get at a restaurant. I would not recommend ordering the baby slice for $6.50. But we had already paid for the whole meal at that point and leaving so we didn't have a chance to complain that the serving was minuscule. Overall, the historic downtown building had a nice ambiance and the pizza wasn't bad. A pricier place for just two people on a casual pizza date. šŸ•

METAL IN FOOD! First, let me say that I am not one to blast an establishment publicly without giving them multiple chances to get it right. However, today takes the cake. Second, we have loved this restaurant for the 4 years we have been going, until this year. We have had everything from rotten beets in a salad, rotten avocado, and burnt pizza numerous times. Every time these things happened, we paid our bill and tipped like we’ve always done, chalking it up to an off night. We have seen the wait staff and management change and decline. Today however, a metal spring was found in the crust of the pizza that my husband and children were eating. My husband bit into with his front teeth. The manager was never sent out. My husband had to ask to speak to him and to say that the level of customer service that was given was pitiful would be an understatement. The manager comp’d the pizza and we paid the remainder of the bill because we didn’t come for free food, however the manager had zero personality and interest in saving a customer. What’s sad is that this used to be a great establishment in our community but we won’t be returning.

I think this may be the best restaurant in Dixon. Good pizza, friendly service, and very tempting desserts!

We came here after striking out with a restaurant nearby... we were hungry, it was late, and we weren't expecting much. We didn't even want pizza, to be honest. But we sat down and ordered because we knew this was our best bet for the hour.

If you order a large pizza, they will let you do half and half toppings... so that's exactly what we did. Half was Zander's special (basically their meat lovers, with four different kinds of meat) and the other half was their margherita (just mozzarella, tomato, and basil). Pizza came out very fast and we started munching away. The pizza is actually wood-fired, and they do it very well--the crust was excellent! The toppings were of good quality and fresh (they actually used real mozzarella and not the fake plastic shreds!) and their marinara sauce was clearly homemade and delicious. My only wish was that they put a little more basil on top.

We were also tempted by their dessert menu and ended up getting the cheesecake. It was surprisingly good (I think our server told us they make it in-house too) and we enjoyed it very much. Although we were told that the caramel was homemade, too, I didn't think it tasted any different from store-bought caramel syrup. The chocolate syrup is straight up just from a Hershey's bottle... but hey, that didn't stop us...

Absolutely loved our first visit here tonight! The crew was on fire! I don't usually sit at the bar but from now on I think I'll prefer it. No matter if there was a small hiccup they recovered so fast I doubt the tables picked up on it. All the boys there seemed young but they all knew their jobs and did them well. I wish I knew more names to give credit to. The boy with the long curly hair maned the wood stove with ease and the young man with the 5th anniversary shirt was on top of quality control as the pizzas came out. He even made note of one that had developed a hole before going out. Katie our server had the right amount of attentiveness. Even with our backs to her most of the time she knew exactly when we needed refills or when we were contemplating dessert. On the off chance she knew I asked her about a particular drink and she gave a very helpful response. I loved it. The atmosphere was great the local brews were great and so was the ice cream. We got a flight of 4 and every flavor was on point and tasted true to the description. I found them better than anything in store. It was super busy at the time we came in but they handled it with ease. This was one of the very few places we tried for the first time and came out this pleased. We are looking forward to coming back with...
