I have been searching for a good Bahn Mi sandwich shop and this morning on Facebook in the Atlanta Asian restaurant group, someone was speaking about the this place. Since I was heading to that side of town I stopped in and I was glad I did. I got there at 1:00 in the afternoon and I can see on the printer that there was a numerous sandwiches ordered and someone was on the phone ordering more and I thought well this could take a while. When I placed my order for my sandwich and a tap water as it was called and sat down. Well within 4 minutes I had my sandwich so they definitely were making the sandwiches of someone waiting in the restaurant there was two of us, while someone else was making all the to go orders. There's a picture you can see how many of those orders we're ready to pick up and we're paid while I was eating my sandwich but had been ordered before I did. Now the sandwich I got the classic regular excellent bread I asked I said they baked their own bread there. Excellent crust on the outside soft on the inside and chewy the meats for excellent fresh cilantro fresh jalapenos fresh onion I was able to add some short sauce it was available anime for perfect sandwich. All three of the workers spoke to me and thank me for my business. It's a little hard to see from Buford highway I have been to the Chinese restaurant next door a couple of times and they are excellent but now they're permanently closed. Another thing I found very accommodating was on the sign as you come in on the window it says drinks from outside are okay to bring in, so you can get bubble tea from the tea place next door and bring it in there most restaurants don't allow you to do that I thought that was a plus also they do have a sugar cane press to make fresh squeezed sugar cane drink you don't see that very often in town. Unfortunately with my liver I can't drink it but it sure looked inviting. I enjoyed mine so much I got two sandwiches to go to take some friends for later. I'll definitely...
Read moreThe service here is regularly bad but especially my visit today.
The cashier, Hien H Nguyen, asked if I wanted the veggies on the side for my sandwiches but I did not completely catch what he was saying. He repeated the question and sounded annoyed. I have never been asked this the couple of times I have been here. I said that inside the sandwich is fine. He told me in advance that the wait time may be 10-15 minutes which I agreed to. I patiently waited 30+ minutes because they looked busy, progressively wanting to follow up on my order. Even if I did attempt to grab their attention, half of them are wearing airpods and minding their own business in front of their customers. Eventually, I stood closer to the register to make it known that I am waiting on my order soon. The employee finally acknowledged me and asked for my order number. He goes over to where the completed orders are kept and finds mine. I got upset because he made me wait a total of 40 minutes for my order because he never called my number nor made the attempt to wave me down when I was literally sitting at the round table closest to the register. And I truly believe it was out of retaliation for two reasons: I did not understand his question about the vegetables and he witnessed that I skipped the tip option (due to my interactions during my previous visits) when processing my payment. At the very least, the...
Read moreThe banh mis we ordered were good, but that’s where the good ends. My wife had been talking about wanting to go for a week or so, so I said let’s go! We walked in, 3 people behind the counter working on a to go order (we were the only customers in the shop), no one said, “hello” or “welcome”, heads down as if we weren’t there.
My wife and poured over the menu as we discussed what we’d order. The girl finally acknowledged us and asked curtly, “ what do you want?” I responded with the 3 numbers, she punched them in and waited for me to scan my phone to pay without saying a word. I paid and regrettably left a tip. She then asked my wife what she wanted as if she had no idea that we had just discussed our order. We waited ten or so minutes for them to get it together, she put the bag on the counter without as much as a “thank you”. All without anything near a smile. Seemed like we were bothering the three of them with our business. We will not be back to pay to be treated rudely. Lee’s Bakery or a number of other banh mi shops will get our business in the future. Don’t waste your money...
