[Time & Date of visit]: Multiple weekday and weekend nights
[Location/Ambiance]: Located in the U-shaped plaza with the shared restaurants in the strip plaza, parking can be a pain at times. Don't be a douche and not follow the arrow directions please... and then end up blocking other people trying leave. Inside, noise levels can vary. Visiting during the day times, seems to be a little more quiet. Once it hits night time, this is one of the establishments that open a little later around buford highway. Which in turn, has been pretty loud with various large groups in various corners taking much of the seating areas. Most of the setup consists of small square tables with ottoman type seats on the outside, and a bench that stretches from doorway to the walls. Hope there's a pillow cushion to sit on, if not the bench isn't that comfy.
[Service]: There's been two times where a simple request could not be fulfilled. Both times, the shop has been nearly empty, so being busy was not the case in either situation. Per my Bubble Tea connoisseur bestest, (I have never been much of a bubble tea drinker) her suggestion of ordering the Royal Milk tea at Quickly is my go to drink as it's a good balance of black and green milk tea's. For Kung Fu tea, both drinks are on the menu. Yet for whatever the reason maybe, they can't seem to mix them. It's not like one is water and the other is oil. 2nd request was pretty simple. My cousin ordered a pineapple drink that was listed as one of their popular drinks. First sip and it didn't agree to his palette. I took a sip next to see if maybe he was just being picky. It tasted a little off; a little too bitter. I suggested that he ask if they could add more sugar. Again, there wasn't any line behind him at that time. But again were unable to assist. So... the lid isn't metal and welded, seamed, or bolted on to the cup. What's so hard of unpeeling the lid, adding some sugar, placing it back on the machine to add another lid, and then get it shaken up again. Maybe both times had new hires who just didn't know what to do.
[Food Highlights]: I'm not a bubble tea expert by any means, it's not my go to after dinner "dessert" or drink. So I can't comment as it all taste the same to me. Exceptions being when it's water down, too sweet, or powdery.
Though, what I can comment is that Kung Fu tea has slightly higher prices than the other bubble tea establishments located less than a mile down the road.
{Summary}: Slightly higher prices for bubble tea, toppings are about $.50 extra, crowded and noisy at night for dine in orders, limited parking space on...
Read moreOn May 1, 2018, I ordered one large Lychee Black tea with regular bubbles and one large Yogurt Orange with bubbles. I used the app so timestamped my order at 1:43pm (receipt #26). At 2:05pm, 22 minutes later, they were calling out #22. At 2:13pm, they skipped my number. After asking the cashier to check on my tea, they realized they had misplaced my cup.
I can understand the mishap of misplacing an order, but that is not why I am perturbed. There is absolutely no reason why bubble tea should take more than 20 mins to produce. I went on a Tuesday afternoon with the "less than usual busy crowd". The cashier was trying his best, but he is a tad bit slow at taking orders, passing out orders, giving change for cash. The 2 male bubble tea makers were just taking their sweet time while the customers became agitated because of the lengthy time. They could care less as the pile of cup orders that kept stacking. The short girl with the backwards cap is legit in getting the tea out in a timely manner. Because of her, you got 2 stars instead of 1.
Btw, you can receive a hot cooked meal...
Read moreI've been following Kung Fu Tea Instagram account for a few months and have been anxiously waiting to have an opportunity to drive OTP to try their tea. As many know KFT is like the Starbucks of bubble tea according to the Washington Post. I was very lucky to visit on a slow night because this spot is usually always crowded, I walked in and there was no wait, it was just me and the employees. The parking lot appears to be very small for so many businesses so I would hate to swee it on a busy day.
Im not a bubble tea connoisseur so I wasn't really sure what to order, the rosehip milk tea sounded delicious but the cashier recommended that i I try the Kung Fu milk tea since it was my first visit. It was an excellent recommendation. I think I'll view the menu before my next visit so Im prepared.
The drink is served Taiwanese style with a subtle tea flavor. The KF milk tea is a best seller and after my first sip I can see why. This is the best boba tea that I've had and I can't wait try some of the other flavors and drinks. 5 stars for the...
