Food was OK, definitely not authentic cajun food, but edible. I try to support our local businesses as much as possible. We ordered the shrimp boil (about 6 shrimp, 2 potatoes, 1 corn, and one bite sized sausage), 2-12 oz cups of gumbo—it tasted pretty good (a little surprised there were no hush puppies), and a side of shrimp fried rice (I know, cajun food with a mix of Asian cuisine—there was not one shrimp in it! Good thing we checked before we left, the lady who helped us was searching for the shrimp too. She seemed more shocked that we can back instead of being surprised about the missing shrimp. I spent a little over $28. Will I think of this place if I’m in the mood for good ol’ Cajun food with all the herbs and spices that these cuisines are known for, I don’t think so. However, I give them an A for effort. The gumbo almost takes you there but it’s missing something, find that and you may just have the star of the show. Also, and I know you didn’t ask me, but I highly suggest taking the egg rolls and shrimp fried rice off the menu. It confuses the goal of the restaurant—are you a Cajun or Chinese restaurant? 3 strong stars. Study and prefect...
Read moreI got the shrimp boil, and I doubt the shrimps freshness. Most boils are done with all the ingredients together, but I could tell everything had been cooked separately. The corn had been under a heat lamp, the potatoes had no seasoning, and the shrimp had very little seasoning sprinkled on after cooking. The shimp was not deviened if that is something you expect. The sausage was one of the best I've had, so it's definitely a plus. Ten shrimp, two pieces of sausage, a half ear of corn, and a potato for $10 was not a bad price, but the food was really not prepared well. The service was OK for fast food type service, which also leads over to the atmosphere. The operating procedure is like fast food, order and pay at the counter and then they bring the food to your table. This is not what I expect at a restaurant with this style menu and a dining room. The server was very attentive to our needs. The best part and what got the food 3 stars was the chocolate cake, it may be the only thing I...
Read moreNice and clean. Staff was very polite and attentive. The elevator music became grating after a bit. Wouldn't hurt to mix it up with a little Zydeco music. It is a Cajun restaurant after all... Food was hit and miss. I tried the Boudin (crawfish & pork). It's not made on premise. Which is kinda to be expected. They said they have it shipped in from a purveyor near Baton Rouge. They should find another. It's not very good Boudin. The Gumbo wasn't bad. But nothing to write home about. The roux was underdeveloped. A good Gumbo roux should be cooked to a brick red color. Not blonde. Way lacking in the Trinity. Should have much more onion, celery and bell pepper. Okra was entirely missing as was File'. Not terrible. But more of just a stew than a true Gumbo. The real saving grace was the Po'Boy. Very good. Shrimp were cooked perfectly. The roll was very fresh and soft. The tomatoes were fresh, ripe and flavorful. The Remoulade was good. But a dash of Tobasco would...
