My wife and I had discussed for a couple of years about taking our 8 year old son to Chuck E. Cheese's. The only thing that was deterring us was the fact that he was diagnosed at 3½ with autism. While this on it's own isn't a reason not to go, how he reacts to loud, crowded places was. But we figured, "Why not?" and went for it.
Things did not turn out like we expected. In fact, they turned out more like we'd hoped.
He had a blast watching little girls play skeeball, jumping up and down and dancing excitedly. They enjoyed him watching so much that they gave him their tickets they won.
After watching for a bit, he played a bowling game and won 6 or 8 tickets of his own. He rode the sorta kinda Ferris Wheel once and the Motion video "roller coaster" 3 times.
And then he found the carousel...
The rest of our credits we're spent on it. He rode it 9 times that we paid for and at least 3 times that others paid and let him ride.
He had a great time and that is really all that matters.
The pizza was okay, obviously not the best in Dothan, but anyone who comes here only for the food is missing the point of this restaurant. This is a place for fun and we all had lots of it.
Finally, I have to give major kudos to Chuck E. Cheese's for their safety considerations regarding children. As we entered, the three of us were stamped on the wrist (well, two of us were. The other got a sticker that had been stamped) with an invisible ink that only showed up under an ultraviolet light. Before leaving with a child, everyone had to be verified with having this stamp. That is one extra step toward safeguarding one's children and I think it is a great idea.
We will most assuredly bring little man back again, and hopefully it won't be too far...
Read moreI have to give it at least one star just to be able to post a review. I was at Chuck E Cheese this past Friday night and I wanted to leave the moment I noticed the hostess had her snotty tissue in her hand as she waited on everyone. But I had an eager three year old who was ready to play. As we waited in line, I watched her as she repeatedly wiped her nose while exchanging money with patrons or swiping their debit/credit cards and never once walked away to wash her hands or even use hand sanitizer. This same person was also responsible for handing you your plates, cups and eating utensils. Needless to say, I was completely grossed out and furious over her lack of concern for other peoples health. So I called and asked to speak to a manager and spoke to a Holly, and told her what I had observed. Honestly, she didn't really sound like she cared but yet she said she would handle it. I felt like she was rushing me off the phone. NOTHING was done to correct the problem! As we were leaving, that same hostess was putting away the items on the salad bar and was wearing ONE glove and it wasn't even on the hand she had used to blow/wipe her nose all night. I'm sure every restaurant has their issues; however, when I see it, report it to a manager and it's still not corrected, that lets me know I don't need to spend my money there. I will never go back and maybe you should think twice before you take your kids into such an...
Read moreNormally we love chuck e cheese!! We go here alot with our 7 kids!! We had our three 7 year olds birthday party here last weekend. We did VIP mega superstar package. Our host was very nice but During the 2 hour party she constantly kept forgetting to give us our stuff that came with our party. Good bags, extra tickets, ect.. I had to remind her each time. She didn't even bring us the pinata until the party was over and we were about to leave. I also ordered 5 play pass bands that i did not receive. With this package we received 10 2 hour unlimited play passes. We asked her if we would be able to use the passes another time instead of using them all that day. She told us YES as long as you don't scan them until you use them. So we put 5 away and used 5. Well today we took our kids back to chuck e cheese with our passes. When we scanned them they said balance 0!!! I was so upset. We asked the manager on duty about this and told her what our host had said. In which she told us that wasn't true that you had to use them that day!! And she would not make it right. I am so upset!! If i knew i had to use them that day we would have afterall we paid over $350 for this party!! I really think that they should make this right considering it was there employee that told us wrong. Will be contacting...
