So I have lived in douglasville for over 10 years. One of the only sushi places I order from is sakura. Well since covid I think they have gone downhill. They don't do dine in anymore which is what we usually do. We come here less and less because of this. This past order I got was a joke. I almost always get the soup and it's amazing and in a large container. Well today I ordered $50 worth of sushi and 2 soups. Look at the size of these soups they gave me!! It cost $6 for some broth. I told the manager that I have never seen such a small amount. she said I had to take it up with the online service I ordered through. Well I thought I was ordering from the restaurant so that was annoying. I had to call someone else to fix my order while I was in the restaurant and they clearly messed up not the 3rd party taking my money. The manager never offered to make it right just kept saying I had to deal with some other company. The sushi is actually decent but you don't get enough for what you pay. There are way more places that are just as good and charge less or give you more. I really didn't want to do a bad review because I loved this place but either they have new management or just being cheap after covid. Either way it's just not that great anymore đ You can go to so many other hibachi and sushi places that actually have dine in and customer service. I gave this place another chance today and it was worse than the last time I ordered. I got the Cali roll eel roll and dragon roll. The Cali roll was fine but there was no eel or eel sauce on the eel roll. The dragon roll was like a Cali roll with shrimp. It was just pathetic and this is the final time I will ever...

Drink delivery was slow even though our party only ordered waters or sweet teas. Our food took an extended period of time to come out, and when it did, two of the entrees were wrong and one person's entree didn't arrive for another 15 minutes. The food was mediocre, and for a $20 plate the portions were also fairly small.
At the end of the meal the server advised there was an 18% gratuity on parties of 3 or more, which was fine, but certainly not the industry standard. I would have expected a manager to visit any table that had to wait an extended period of time for food and drinks, but none appeared. Because the server was kind, we didn't ask, however we will not be returning.
I'd recommend Taste of Thai which is about 1 minute away, as their food, service, and prices are all better...

Overall, the food was mediocre at best but the customer experience was TERRIBLE. Our request to eat inside was DENIED but the people BEHIND us were allowed to eat INSIDE because they were deemed a "regular" or frequent customer . For background, I've been eating regularly at Sakura shortly after we moved to Douglasville in 2012. Regardless, treating customers differently is a HORRIBLE business practice.
This is especially a bad thing since Sakura doesn't have an official Loyalty rewards system (to my knowledge) to confirm a frequent/regular customer. Unfortunately, the OPTICS around this situation is BAD, especially considering we are African Americans and the people that were ALLOWED to eat inside were Caucasian. When considering the mediocre food and TERRIBLE customer experience, I have no plans to revisit Sakura...
