Edit sept 20 - wanted to celeb my birthday here at my fav resturant. My wife called in a week before to have a booth space. We reached there and the staff said they are booked and can only offer us some back table or outside. What is the point of reservation then.? The staff after that was also very late in getting things for us... Napkins took 10 minutes, no one filling water... I was utterly disappointed. Changing my 5 star to 2 stars. Advice to the manager who came to help but was helpless.. Reservation must get preference, train your front staff girls to be a little polite when situations like this happens...they were clearly untrained. wanted to share our recent experience at The Foxtail in Downers Grove. We were on the hunt for a new lunch spot and stumbled upon this gem just 10 minutes from our place.
First off, the atmosphere was fantastic! Tall windows, crisp white walls, and a killer bar area set the mood perfectly. We had made reservations in advance, and we were seated promptly upon arrival.
Now, let's talk food. We went all out on appetizers and weren't disappointed. The Brussels sprouts with goat cheese, dates, and walnuts were a hit for me, though my partner thought they were just okay. But then came the Maine Lobster Dynamite, and oh my goodness, it was phenomenal! Juicy, flavorful lobster served with buttery bread – a match made in heaven.
Feeling adventurous, we also tried the scallops and the Burrata Fig Mostarda. The scallops were cooked to perfection, and that butternut squash puree? To die for. The Burrata was a tad sweet for my liking, but still delicious.
By the time the main course rolled around, we were practically bursting. But we couldn't resist trying the Striped Bass with herb tomato ragu and asparagus. My partner adored the sea bass, though the ragu was just okay for us.
Dessert was sadly out of the question due to our food coma, but we're already planning our next visit to indulge in all the other dishes, especially the desserts!
Overall, The Foxtail definitely earns a spot as one of the best in Downers Grove. Can't wait to go back...
Read moreI hosted my bridal shower at The Foxtail a couple of weeks ago, and had to write a review to say how spectacular the entire experience was from start to finish. I also want to put at the beginning of my review how INCREDIBLE the food and drinks were (my guests still cannot stop talking about it!).
Starting with the planning process, the managers were not only incredibly enthusiastic about hosting my shower (which was SO appreciated, especially in the times we are in) but also very responsive to any questions I had and open to my ideas. They were transparent about pricing and that we would have to select food for our pre-selected menu closer to the date, as they have a seasonal menu. They even sent me multiple pictures of their event room from all different angles so I/my planner could work on decor! A couple of days before the shower, they sat down and reviewed everything with my family and I so that we felt certain that our event would run as planned.
On the day of the shower, the entire staff at the Foxtail was truly incredible. There was plenty of waitstaff available to quickly and promptly place appetizers as guests arrived, keep our mimosa bar fully stocked, and take orders/deliver food to guests. Multiple people checked in on us throughout the event, including one of the managers. She was so thoughtful and kind in all of her interactions with me, and made me feel very special. The food was honestly unbelievable and mimosas were absolutely delicious. Their event room was absolutely beautiful, and had lots of natural light from the big windows which allowed for gorgeous photos. To say everything was perfect would be an understatement.
If you are looking for a new favorite restaurant with the best ambiance, drinks, and food- this will be it! Please also be sure think of The Foxtail if you are looking to hold a very...
Read moreAn unforgettable lunch - exceptional service and a truly special touch!
To the management and staff of The Foxtail,
A sincere expression of gratitude is written to convey the incredible 1st time experience at F.T. on June 7th a Saturday. Everything about the visit was exceptional, from the delicious food to the personalized service.
The server made the day special. Their attention to detail was outstanding, and they were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, offering excellent recommendations. The thoughtful and personalized attention given to our table made everyone feel like VIPs. They even coordinated a custom Father's Day gift, a heartwarming and unexpected gesture that made the occasion memorable.
The food was outstanding. Specific dishes, such as the perfectly cooked steak and shrimp poke bowl (made custom gluten-free), An octopus appetizer was prepared with expertise and was an absolute delight for the palette. The presentation of the oysters on the halfshell was accompanied by all the appropriate utensils and fixings, served on a mountain of crushed ice. For cocktails, I personally enjoyed the "smoke on the water" and "jetplane." Dining at Foxtail has always been a pleasure for the group that introduced me to the venue, and this visit was particularly noteworthy due to the custom Father's Day gift option.
Thanks to Nate Cooper and the staff for making the Father's Day lunch wonderful. The dedication to excellent service and the ability to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere is appreciated. We will definitely be returning to The Foxtail and recommending it to...
