We recently had the pleasure of dining at Xecora, a seafood-inspired Mexican food restaurant. The restaurant boasted beautiful Huichol motifs. Which is great because the Huichol culture is definitely to be celebrated. While the service had a few shortcomings, the food itself left a lasting impression.
Let's start with the service. Although the restaurant was not overly crowded, I did find that it took quite a while to receive our drinks and food. Additionally, when we wanted to reorder drinks, it took longer than anticipated to get the attention of the waitstaff. This aspect of the dining experience could definitely use improvement. Furthermore, considering the price, the drinks could have been stronger and more flavorful.
Now, onto the highlight of the evening—the food. We decided to sample a variety of dishes, including the Xecora Rice, Zarandeado Fish, and Carne Asada. The Carne Asada was a delightful rendition of this classic Mexican dish. The meat was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, providing a satisfying and authentic experience.
The Xecora Rice, however, left something to be desired. While it had a pleasant taste, the texture was a bit disappointing. The rice and seafood seemed to have melded together, resulting in a slightly mushy consistency. It didn't quite live up to expectations, and I would likely skip it on my next visit.
The standout dish of the evening was undoubtedly the Zarandeado Fish. This seafood delight was nothing short of outstanding. The fish was grilled perfectly and flavorful. It left a lasting impression on my taste buds, and I can confidently say that I will be ordering it again...
Read moreWent here for dinner. I ordered a couple of drinks. They were ok but they tasted more like fruit juices rather than alcoholic beverages. I ordered the Kesabirria tacos and they were pretty tasty, better than many. I had a vampiro as well, I asked for carne asada but was brought an al pastor instead, normally, i like al pastor but i didn't like it, the tortilla was crunchy at least which made up a bit for the meat not being to my liking. I also ordered an asada taco and it was good. I was a bit disappointed that most of their menu was seafood. The salsa that they give with the chips was excellent, I really liked it. The waitress was polite but she could have been a bit more attentive. Overall, I had a good experience and the food was good. Still not sure if i would come back as it was a bit on the pricier side, maybe on a special occasion. Either way, it's a good...
Read moreThe drinks were good. The margarita was small for the price and the michelada's were slightly pricey the non alcoholic michelada was the same price as the regular one. I only wanted an appetizer but most of them cost more than the entres'. My friends said the Oysters were very good. I have to give the Rib Eye sandwich a thumbs down; it was fatty and gristly, very hard to chew my jaw became tired so I didn't finish it. I left hungry. I won't order it again and I don't recommend it. The music was nice it had the atmosphere similar to a beach front restaurant in Ensenada. We missed the Mariachis they were leaving when we arrived. I dont' think I'll...
