I really really really want to live this place. I’m a huge fan of diners! I’m not sure what happened here, but this place has gone down hill quickly, in food quality, and the prices have shot through the roof. The last meal I had was Eggs Benedict. I had to send it back because the eggs were overcooked. The recook came and the eggs whites weren’t even fully cooked. The hollandaise is a pre mix. Tastes powdery and not rich at all. I ordered a side of corned beef hash, and I’m not exactly sure what came out. It looked like something that was pressed into a loaf pan, sliced about1/2- 3/4 of an inch thick and tossed in the microwave to heat up.

A year is so ago the wait staff was your typical diner wait staff, and it was awesome! Getting your attention from behind the counter to ask if you need more coffee, or just walking through with a coffee pot filling you up. Funny, friendly, quick, and personable. Thats no longer the case. It’s hit or miss what Kim if service you’ll get. Between 1/2 decent and poor.

Prices have shot through the roof as well. Yes I completely understand costs have gone up everywhere. But if I’m paying $15+ for eggs Benedict, I at least expect home made hollandaise sauce. I mean it’s actually cheaper to make it than to use some nasty premix. My daughter gets the pancakes and has noticed a change in their quality also.

Diners are all about good, simple, quick, ‘home style’ meals in a friendly atmosphere. This place no longer offers that. Food is subpar, staff isn’t what it used to be, and the prices are absurd. Near $50 for coffee, eggs, pancakes, and a side. Maybe I’ll go back in a few months, but after 30-40 attempts it’s no longer a breakfast stop for us. Hopefully they figure out how to get back to...

So last night, my friends went to this diner. I was not able to attend for personal reasons but they informed me that they had a very unpleasant time with one of the waitresses that they referred to as "angry specimen," and many more. I asked them what had occurred and they proceeded to tell me that while they were enjoying their time at this diner the "angry specimen" came up to them and told them that they were being loud and that they could either "shut up or get out." In case you haven't noticed, that's substantially rude especially to a group of young adults. They turned around and apologized to the citizens behind them for being "too loud" but the citizens then told them that they weren't being loud at all and that they weren't bothering them. But they decided to leave anyway because this woman had ruined the vibes. This diner has been a place of happiness and joy. But ever since this incident with this unusually angered woman it is now home of the angry female homosapien who kicked them out for being "too loud." Avoid this horrible, angry, distasteful female if you ever enter...

I had lived in the area of Downingtown for many years. Even worked right down the street from the diner as a teenager, but never visited.

Today my wife and I were back in the area and we decided to take a stroll down memory lane, and it was time for a bite to eat. What better place to try than the famous Home of the Blob Downingtown Diner. We ordered a cheesesteak platter and a reuben special. We were pleasantly surprised at how quickly the food came out but even more so at how well it was prepared. The cheesesteak was delicious, the meat had a lot of flavor. The Reuben was the same, not a lot of gristle straight up perfect. Both came with french fries which were fantastic - batterd and delicious. More than we ever expected out of a small little diner like this.

Karen waited on us and was really nice and very pleasant to talk to. The place was clean, with a great atmosphere. Worth the trip - we...

Literally the best pancakes I've ever had. I swear they must put coke in them or something because they're so addictive. Over easy eggs were perfectly done, sausage was good. My husband got the blob mess and also thoroughly enjoyed it. Their prices are so good that we even decided to both get a slice of pie or cake which were also good. The restaurant itself could use with maybe a slight upgrade with maybe some new flooring but I understand the type of look and feel they're going for. Our waitress was great and also witnessed her deal with a difficult customer perfectly. I will definitely be back and send anyone I know who likes pancakes to Downtown Diner!

We’ve lived in Downingtown for 25 years and never eaten here until Sunday’s breakfast and it was great. A quality dinner experience. Overall the food was hot and delicious with generous portions. Service was great. We ordered and our food was in front of us before we could blink. I had the blob special and the French Toast was perfect. It came with at least 6 slices of bacon! The pancakes and fruit cup were excellent too! I won’t wait 25 years to go back. If you enjoy dinner food you won’t be disappointed.

This Diner is a Downingtown relic. Nostalgia and some history are served up with your meal. Milkshakes and burgers, fries and pie, breakfast and coffee, oh my! Claim to fame is the feature in the movie "The Blob" from the 1950's, a film that featured the diner as well as many locals in the running mob scene as the Blob overtakes the diner. Diner is as diners do! It's a matter of preference.
