My wife, knowing what a big fan of Victory I was and what big fans of Santa Claus our three kids were, booked a reservation for the Breakfast with Santa event at the Downingtown location. The kids were excited to meet the big guy and I was excited to finally get a chance to make it down to this brewery that I have loved so much of.
It took us about an hour to get there but we figured it would be worth it. We made it there about ten minutes before our scheduled reservation time and were told that another family was already at our table. We knew we were early so we waited. After about fifteen minutes the kids, after being stuck in the car for a while and hungry, were starting to lose it. My wife enquired about the status and, again, were told another family was already at our reserved table. When my wife asked what would happen if the other family was there for another hour the hostess advised that they would revisit the issue then.....after an hour. In general, there seemed to be a lack of concern on the staffs part and no effort was made to move our family to another table. To Victory, we were beholden to that one table come heck or high water.
Twenty five minutes after our scheduled reservation (some 35 minutes after our arrival) time myself, my wife and kids had had enough and left. Victory called us about ten minutes later (over half an hour after our scheduled reservation time) to tell us our table was finally ready. By that point the kids were finally happily eating at a nearby McDonalds.
All in all, an extremely disappointing experience made all the more frustrating by the lack of concern or communication from the staff. At the risk of sounding dramatic the whole morning has soured me on the Victory brand in general and I'll be passing on picking up my usual six pack of Dirt Wolf next time.
Update 12/22/18: Reached out to the GM as requested below and, almost two weeks later, still have not received a response. Again, not angry and not looking for a handout, just super disappointed in this brewery that I used to love so much. Adjusted score...
Read moreI've driven past the back of the restaurant numerous times, and I always thought it was a factor. Because the restaurant is tucked away. I've never been to Victory Brewing Company before (Since I am not much of a beer drinker), and I was told they have some pretty good food. We decided to give it a try, and I was not disappointed.
*Restaurant: 5/5 *Service: 4/5 *Food: 4/5 *Parking: Free Parking Lot
-Restaurant- I was surprised at how open the restaurant was when I first walked in. There's a nice area on the left for people to buy beers to go, as well as any merchandise for anyone interested. There's plenty of seating both inside and outside. There's also a bar area, and a private area. Everything's clean and organized. In addition, I was also told they offer brewery tours for anyone interested.
-Service- Hostesses are friendly. Our 1st waiter was only there long enough to provide us with drinks, as well as some light beer samples for me to try due to a shift change, I assume. (I love this, especially for someone who doesn't drink beer and wants to try different varieties.) Our replacement waitress is friendly and accommodating.
-Food- What we ordered: -Fried Mozzarella Cheese Curds (Very good, I normally do not like Mozzarella sticks because of the texture. But these bite size Cheese Curds are perfect, light, airy and flavorful) -Classic Fried Pickles (Not a huge fan of this one. Way too salty) -DirtWolf BBQ Pizza (Good) -Boneless Korean BBQ Wings (Very good) -Classic buffalo Breaded Wings (Very good) -Fish and Chips (Very good, one of the best Fish and Chips I've had.) It is nicely breaded and doesn't fall apart like some of the other Fish and Chips I've had. The only thing I did not like about it was the Chips (Fries). I was not aware it came with Cajun fries. But their regular fries are just perfect, crispy on the outside and soft inside.
In conclusion: I would definitely go again. If not for beer, at least for...
Read moreI have come here many times and usually have a fantastic time. The food is usually really good, fast and fresh(usually get wings, but today we got pizza along with fried pickles, cheese and pretzels). The beers speak for themselves, and they usually have stuff here that I can’t find at my local beer store. The tasting room is spacious and well laid out. We usually receive excellent service. We came today (9/24 at 2:15pm) with friends and were sat by the hosts who were friendly. Our server, Maxwell D, might have been having a bad day. He almost never looked at his when talking to us our taking our order. He rolled his eyes at us when we ordered (and once when we weren’t ready). It felt like we were ruining his day, and it was so confusing. We all started feeling uncomfortable. On my walk to the restroom I asked a gentleman with a Victory shirt on if he was a manager or if he could get us one. He quickly asked if there was something he could help us with. I told him about our experience so far from Maxwell and he said he would get somebody to assist. When I returned from the bathroom my party was upset because apparently the person I spoke with told Maxwell who came to our table and asked what he did wrong and told them he offended their friend (me apparently). The whole situation was just uncomfortable so when I heard this I asked for our bill, paid and left (the whole time Maxwell again didn’t look at us). Just felt like we massively inconvenienced him because he treated us so poorly. I love this place and the beer and genuinely think Maxwell might have had a bad day or something, but I don’t know if I would feel comfortable returning knowing that the service might be...
