This was my first visit to R Five Wines in Dātown. My husband and I went out with some dear friends. They had been there before and said it was great, and R Five did not disappoint⦠simple decoreā¦yet comfortable & welcoming! . Inside the staff was SUPERB!!!! So very attentive and wonderful. We were able to enjoy lovely Morgan who took extra good care of us, and made excellent recommendations for wine. Our friends were not sure which they wanted so she allowed them to taste two before they made their decision. We ordered three different pizzas and each was absolutely delicious⦠our surpriseā¦The peach selection was a favorite. We also had the white pizza and the sausage pizza ā¦all Excellent & each pizza was brought out individually when it was finished in the oven. My husband and I had cocktails⦠and at R Five their cocktails are pre-batched, so you cannot make any adjustments. We each had the Mint julep. My hubby LOVED it. I thought it a tad strong so I tried it with Ginger aleā¦. still was too strong for meā¦so I opted for the Sangria, which was a perfect choice for me. I Would definitely recommend R Five Wines. It was a very lovely evening, and we actually closed up the place as we sat at our table and laughed and talked for a few hoursā¦and not once did anyone rush us or let us know they were closing ā¦class act...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePains me not to recommend a new local business, because I was pumped to try themā¦but they charge $25 per person for a tasting of 4 wines. In all the wineries My wife and I have ever visited (many) it has always been between like $1-10 per personā¦and usually you get more than 4. Iām sure those that can afford will go, but such a shame a new business like that is shutting out so much of our community with pricing like that. Most families wonāt be able to afford something like thatā¦thatās not even including buying a glass or bottle of wine. I asked one of the owners why, and she said because they go by appointment and have someone explaining the winesā¦rightā¦just like most wineriesā¦who still charge $1-10⦠a tasting is supposed to want to get you in the door...not be $50 in the red before you even buy the wine.
$50 for a couple to taste a couple wines? I havenāt been to a winery in my life thatās been so stingy like that. ššš. I literally could hit 3-4 other wineries in our area to get to that price point.
Side note, the one owner refused to talk. I tried to ask questions, but she wouldn't converse. Very disappointed in this potential new winery for our community for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe have always visited this quaint winery and supported its business, however, after recommending it to my nephew and his wife - I have advice for the owners. It's likely you will get patrons who come in for your food, desserts, ambience and not for your wine. You will get patrons who enjoy your business who do not drink - for whatever reason and this should be respected. My nephew brought his wife here the other night for a date night and told the staff they didn't drink, but wanted menus. They were then asked 3x "...okay, so just the food? Really? Um okay" in addition to weird under the breath chuckles and stares. From three different individuals, I might add - apparently the worst response came from two men (one older who laughed at them and one younger who just awkwardly stared). YES - just the food. They wanted 30 minutes away from their kids to enjoy being together. I realize alcohol is the focal of your business and the check, but shouldn't every individual be welcome if they're spending money? Making a recommendation is an endorsement, which I won't make again. Less judgment and more warmth would mean a lot for ALL...
