Bakers of Buffington — Restaurant in Downingtown

One of the WORST experiences I have had during the wedding planning prosses and probably my whole life! We tried calling them for about 3 months before we gave up and then personally went to the location to schedule our cake tasting (they never answer emails btw). Once at the cake tasting, we were told to sit at a tiny table in the front area of the shop. A lady then came out and said, "Hi I'm here for your consultation, what kind of cake do you want". We were confused because we came for a 'cake tasting'. She then just gave us a photo book and said, "Look through this we will talk price later because it changes depending on design" without any kind of: "This is the base model" or "This is an example of what is included". We eventually picked a base cake we liked, then got our samples and left. We tried the. marble cake that night and when we cut it open we found 90% white cake (which was good and fresh) with 10% chocolate cake (which was extremely horrible - super dry - like it had been made a few days before the white part. Our full chocolate cake....was the EXACT SAME as the chocolate "mixed" into the marble. My other half got ahold of them and told them what happen, asked them to maybe remake our samples and the lady told him it would be the same result (as in unwillingness to even try to find out why/what went wrong) AND then told him the reason we didn't know what to expect was "because we had never been there before". Last time I checked (and asked at least 10 other people) MARBLE CAKE is a mix of the 2 batters and then made as one cake. Not a weird Frankenstein cake. I have had store cake that tasted better! I would have liked to privately and nicely solve the problem as we tried to do, instead, I have to put it in a review. Needless to say, the only thing they proved to me is that they DO NOT care about the feedback they get regardless of the "we will find out what went wrong" comments left here. Walked in an placed a order for a cake over a week in advance, I call the day before to ensure that the cake would be ready as well as asked for a modification to the size of the cake, I was told the cake was already finished. I go the next morning to pick this cake up and not only is it not finished but to not give me what I asked for on the cake and to use icing to create a character on the cake and be charged and ridiculous price for each drawing and it not to be complete was very upsetting this was for a 3yr olds birthday party. I spoke with the owner on the spot and was told that they weren't sure if I was going to pick up the cake. But then proceed to agree with me when I explained that the day before I called to confirm and was even giving a small discount because they were not able to accommodate my order. This was a very simple paw patrol cake . The work looked very sloppy the faces were not detailed at all, absolutely no customer service. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. Bakers of Buffing is a class act! I have ordered many cakes (regular and gluten free) here over the past 7 years and have LOVED them all. The team even helped with a very detailed custom cake project for work. I sent very detailed description, brought in an item to copy and had a great experience. It couldn’t have been more perfect and super delicious to boot! Be sure to order your cake and cupcakes in advance as the website does state to place orders a couple weeks in advance. If you call them, the team is friendly and helpful (and of course busy because they’re awesome). Can’t understand negative reviews as that has never been my experience and if you have questions or specific needs, call and ask. Friends that I have turned onto the shop love it too and had no idea of this local gem was right here in our town! I love and find it important to support our local business. Thank you, can’t wait to see you again in a couple weeks for a birthday cake...
