We finally made it to Vernafern in the Doylestown Marketplace last night, and WOW — we were completely blown away. The food, the atmosphere, the staff — all perfection. The menu changes often, so you know you’re getting the freshest, locally sourced ingredients. It’s a true scratch kitchen, and it shows in every bite.

Our amazing server, Lisa, told us we were part of the “clean plate club” — and I suspect everyone is when the food is this good. You don’t just clean your plate… you want to lick it. She was patient, kind, and attentive, and made our evening feel extra special. The open kitchen adds to the experience — watching the chefs work is like watching art in motion. We even saw the chef clearing tables and running food to guests. Teamwork really does make the dream work.

We ordered the carrot hummus, polenta fries, roasted carrots with whipped feta, pork belly, the burger, and bread pudding for dessert. Every single dish was bursting with flavor — not just chef’s kiss, but chef’s make-out.

I’m so excited we have a truly delicious, fresh, and locally focused restaurant right here in town. Can’t wait to go back!

I almost don't want to review this place as I'm worried that it will become too popular to get a table at! We went for the first time a couple of weeks back. We had the steak frites and the pig and hen burger. The burger was great, the best that I've had in Doylestown. Excellent flavor, nice fresh bun, and tasty piece of bacon. The steak frites could have used a little more flavor, but was cooked perfectly and the fries were very nice. Brownie dessert was incredible. Service was also top notch, the waiter was extremely friendly and helpful, and made the dining experience even more enjoyable. We enjoyed it so much that went back the next week for Valentines, and the place was packed. There were a few menu changes. At the table next to ours, the couple was raving about the Cassoulet. They said they'd been to France a half dozen times, and that this was the best Cassoulet they've ever had. So I had to order it, and it was amazing. Very flavorful, and not too heavy. We had the heart shaped chocolate cake for dessert, and it was one of the best cakes that I've experienced. Definitely our new favorite...

Such a special restaurant . Whether sitting at the countertop overlooking the chef master, his dishes were sitting at a table in the restaurant, the vibe is so special in our marketplace in Doylestown. From the small plate to the main dish, everything is fresh, plated beautifully, and the taste is spectacular. The menu is always changing for the better. We started with the duck, confit cannoli, the fresh Parmesan cream on the side was spectacular, it was nothing we’ve ever had before. We then shared the Swedish meatballs, something my husband remembers growing up on and truly enjoyed We shared the Fusilli with toasted walnut, praline, goat cheese crumbles, and a butternut squash, balsamic brodo; it did not disappoint. Chef Justin takes pride in every guest that comes through, every herb and every dish he masterfully creates. His sous chef Aaron is his right hand man, a true part of the culinary creations we so enjoyed. And with a smile and great service, we must mention Lisa who is a wonderfully attentive and friendly hostess/server. Doylestown is fortunate to have this wonderful...

Some burgers whisper. This one thundered. First bit...boom! The slab of bacon didn’t merely crisp; it crackled with a rebel's flair, thick enough to have its own zip code, tender enough to convert vegetarians at a glance. The patty itself was textbook perfection: charred edges, juicy center, a flavor that suggested it had stared into a smoky abyss and returned enlightened. But the crown jewel? That mystery pickle relish. Sweet? Not quite. Tangy? Just enough. Somewhere between a brine-soaked secret and a sorcerer’s chutney, it slapped the burger awake and danced across the tongue like green lightning. You don’t taste it, you discover it. And on the side, a potato salad, deceptively humble. Creamy folds of Yukon gold and red bliss, kissed by horseradish that flirted without stinging. A nuanced sharpness that cleaned the palate without starting a fire. If horseradish usually roars, here it murmured poetry. This wasn’t just a meal. It was a declaration.

Vernafern is a Great addition to Doylestown Main Streets Food Scene. We were there for a Sunday Brunch. We ordered Crab Cakes and Cheesy Grits to start. My Husband and I both like the crab cakes, It has the right amount of crunch on the outside and a tasty center the Tartar Sauce and the Dill was a nice added flavor (Dill was added as garnish BUT make sure to eat it with the crab cakes). The grits were fine. It’s grits. My Husband ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict and It look good and taste great. I had the Swanson Platter. I like ordering Platters and this one, did not disappoint. The sausages were full of flavor unfortunately my Grilled Petite Filet was a bit chewy and my bacon were not crispy as I like it to be other wise it was a generous plate worth ordering. Being able to order drinks at the bar next door and or BYOB was a plus. Staff were friendly. We’ll Definitely come back and try more dishes.
