Please don't eat chinese from this place. I got a deliver order from Citrus Gardens. I read a few reviews but thought it couldn't be as bad as some of them said... it was. First it took an hour to even get a call from the driver he had arrived. I went down to the lobby and there was another gal waiting for an order from Citrus Gardens as well. Well, naively I didn't check the order when I got my bag. When I realized it was the wrong order, I ran back to the lobby to try and catch the other gal. No luck. So I called the deliver guy to try and have him call the gal back. He instructed for me to read the ticket in the order and call her myself. I called and the gal said her parents were so hungry they had eaten my food and couldn't give it back to me.... So I called the delivery guy back and asked for my money back. He said he could get the order to me in 20 minutes. I agreed. In the time I was waiting for my food, my friends and I thought sampling the wrong order would tide me over... The FOOD was quite possibly the worst chinese food I have ever eaten. The beef and broccoli was so questionable, I stopped eating it after a half bite. My guy friend was a little more brave and put every single sauce they gave us: duck sauce, soy sauce and sweet and sour sauce, on it to make it semi-edible. There were also chicken wings?? Basically KFC wings with zero sauce. And shrimp fried rice... I was NOT going to chance that. My food was a little better. The chicken in the lo mein was rubber, but the noodles and sauce was good. The crab rangoons weren't anything special but not terrible. Lastly, the sesame chicken was definitely not something would not recommend, but still better than the beef and broccoli. Overall, terrible food and terrible service recovery. They didn't offer me anything except a...
Read moreAfter staying away from this place for over a year I decided to give them another chance and I immediately regret that decision. #1 they don’t inform you that there’s a $12 minimum on delivery. They just simply charge you the $12 if your order falls short. I ordered a combo that was about 10 dollars and when I asked for the total they told me $12.60. I hung up and quickly thought about it and called back. That’s when I was told ‘$12 minimum’ to which I replied, ‘well let me just fill out my order...’.
If they would simply inform the customer about the delivery minimum, I’m sure most would just fill out the order. Instead they just try to sneak in the extra charge. This is obviously something new they implemented since I stopped frequenting this establishment.
As far as filling out my order? I wish I didn’t because I added a Shanghai spring roll which when I received the order smelled funny and tasted bad. I spit it out and threw it out. I tried to eat the rest of my food but I lost my appetite. This place was decent 6 or 7 years ago but it’s just terrible now.
Service has never been good and I’ve always gotten the vibe that they only care about the transaction and not the customer. Any place with that kind of attitude you have to question how much are they going to care about food safety.
With all the growth in the area there are now countless better and cleaner options for Chinese cuisine in the neighborhood. This place would go out of business if it wasn’t for the...
Read moreI wanted to like China Spring. The staff were friendly and got the order correct, which is always a good start—but unfortunately, the food didn’t follow through. The rice, which should be the heart of any solid meal from a Chinese spot, had absolutely zero flavor. Just starch and steam.
The white noodles not only had a strange odor but also fell completely flat in terms of taste and texture—they didn’t resemble the New York-style takeout I grew up on and crave. As for the red snapper, I had high hopes, but it was stark white inside with a breading so heavy and unseasoned it drowned out any chance of actual flavor. It didn’t taste fresh, and definitely wasn’t seasoned with care or confidence. Even the sauces, including the duck and soy sauce, somehow managed to fade into the blandness.
My daughter gave the most honest review of all—she said she would've rather had a glass of water for dinner. Ouch. And I get it. When you order takeout, especially with kids, you want comfort, taste, and maybe a bit of joy. We got none of that.
The wings? You get five. Five very average, unmemorable wings. They weren’t awful, just… forgettable. And that sums up the whole experience: not offensive enough to complain in person, but not enjoyable enough to ever order again.
I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and hope maybe the cook was having an off day. Everyone’s allowed one. But as it stands, I’d be hesitant to give China Spring another shot unless I hear something has changed in...
