For being a 4-star hotel, they need to do much better. The amenities are 4-stay (pool, bar, restaurant) but the actual room and stay is more like a 2-star. There are NO actual comforters on any of the beds. It's only just layers and layers of sheets with a fleece blanket between them. No fitted sheets. The ‘mattress pad’ on our king bed was an old comforter instead of a fitted mattress pad, which also looked absolutely disgusting. There is blood on some of the pillows under the pillow cases which tells me they probably do not wash the pillows or replace them even if they are damaged with fluids like that.
Dresser drawers in the bedrooms would NOT stay closed the moment you put anything in them. We had to start stuffing things under the legs of the dresser to level them to keep the drawers from fully opening on their own so we have full access to our room without tripping over dresser drawers constantly.
Why have an inventory list when the room staff doesn’t stick to it? We had a 3-bedroom suite and none of the inventory was correct. We had 8 people in our room and when we checked in it only had 3 standard glasses, 4 wine glasses and 5 plates and bowls. The inventory list said to have at least 6 of everything (which is still really low for a 3 bedroom suite that sleeps more than 6 people). We could never drink or eat together. We asked front desk 3 times for them to bring up more, they never did. All the glasses and plates we did have were different from each other. They are not from the same set and look all mix-matched (this is not a big deal but a little…odd for a supposedly 4-star level hotel). The first 1-2 days of our stay was constantly trying to get a hold of the front desk (took 3 calls on average for them to pick up) for all the things we needed that should have been there. It was incredibly frustrating. Some things never even showed up and we had to ask again the next day which is not what we wanted to constantly do or worry about.
The pull out couch bed had no comforter, pillows, and sheets. We had to call for some. Then we only got pillows and a thicker blanket. No actual sheets so our boys ended up sleeping on just the nasty mattress pad since since it was too late at that point.
No one ever explained to us that we need to call and schedule a day ahead for any services to refresh of our bedrooms or a shuttle to any of the parks.
As a result we just asked for a bag of new sheets to refresh a few beds ourselves since we were moving people around, they only gave us 3 TOP sheets for each bed and pillow cases. No fitted sheets. No mattress pad. No comforters or thicker blankets. Called the desk again for at least a comforter. Was told they would bring one up “if they had one”….was delivered a mattress pad instead of a comforter…. We had to go down to the front desk ourselves to retrieve more which were just more fleece blankets.
The AC/Furnace ceiling vent had this god awful rattle to it the whole time it was on. The lid to the vent looks horribly installed. It was so loud we had to talk louder to hear people sometimes.
On top of that it was near impossible to get a hold of anyone at the front desk by phone. You have to call multiple times for anyone to pick up. If you couldn’t at all, you would have to walk all the way up to the front desk yourself which isn’t a short walk if you were in one of the buildings in the far back.
The oven was not installed correctly and is unleveled. So it shakes back and forth when you try to use it. One of the bathrooms doesn’t have GFCI outlets and the outlet (which isnt GFCI) right above the sinks is coming out of the wall. Which is illegal and super unsafe.
The room service people that did stop by our room when dropping things off were amazing and super nice. Most of the front desk people seemed to not want to be there or cared.
Parking sucks if you are placed in the farthest back buildings.
This has been the most frustrating booked hotel suite experience I have ever...
Read moreFloridays is my favourite place to go to! I have been going every year since I was little with my family and it feels like a second home. The warming atmosphere from as soon as you step foot in the reception at the beginning of your holiday to when you step out of the reception at the end of the holiday. This place has so much to offer for everyone! A games room for everyone to enjoy and with it always being cleaned regularly, it always smells amazing. The cafe which includes a wide variety of Starbucks drinks, which is so nice to have to be able to sit by the pool either on the loungers or at the tables which are located outside the cafe and the bar and grill if you are wanting to shelter away from the sun. Not only does it offer Starbucks drinks but also lots of drinks snacks and meals for all to enjoy. (my favourite is the Mac and cheese). Then there is the bar and grill with lovely staff who are so friendly and chatty, who also provide great smoothies, cocktails, etc. Moving onto the pool there is two pools one big and one small. The big one has lots of seating as well as a small pool attached to it along with fountains towards the shallow end for the younger ones to enjoy. The small pool is located next to block E and C, which is located nearer the back of the resort. The little pool is surrounded by a lake and although it is smaller it is just as good especially if you're wanting a more quiet, relaxing time. It also has the best view to watch the sunset go down. Also to mention both pools have a hot tub too, so on the cooler days you can warm up and relax in the hot tub. Floridays also has a gym at the resort which I love to go to, even though it is on the smaller side it is perfect as it doesn't get too busy and they have the perfect machines in to get all types of workouts done. With good lighting, air conditioning and a water fountain included it helps not only make it a better atmosphere but also keep us cool and hydrated when exercising. Finally onto our room, it is always so clean and neat with towels either as swans or handbags as we arrive which is such an amazing touch. There is lots of space to be able to spend time with family but also to be able to have your own space in the place when you just need some quiet time. It provides such a sense of home for me and whenever I get in there from a long day at the parks or at the beach, I feel at ease coming home and I just can't wait to relax in the apartment on the evenings. The balcony is such an amazing addition to the apartment as we have family card nights on the balcony and its so nice to sit on the balcony after a long day and relax with some games whilst listening to the outside world. Another thing to mention is the location of the place. Floridays is located on international drive and is about 20 minutes from universal and about 15 minutes to Disney which is no time at all and not to mention the Vineland premium outlets are walking distance as well as Vineland pointe with shops like Sephora, Marshalls, etc. A lot of fast food places are also in walking distance including, Taco Bell, raising canes, Wendys, dunkin donuts, shake shack and more. Now a newly opened super target has arrived also in walking distance to the resort which has so much to offer sitting on the new i4 junction. I won't type much more to bore you but if you listen to one thing I've said I would definitely want you to listen to this. Floridays resort holds such a special place in my heart and will always be my favourite place to visit, I can't describe how much it means to me as there is no words for it, if I recommend a place to go it is here. A place I could spend months and months at a time and never get bored, this place truly provides me with such happiness it makes it so hard to go home and I would hope that anyone reading this, who is unsure about where to go for their next Orlando trip is here. It truly is a home away from home! :) (I've also added...
Read moreThe resort is currently undergoing renovations. Our 2 bedroom unit was spacious with large bedrooms. The main ensuite bathroom had a toilet that had to be flushed in a certain way, so that the toilet would not constantly keep running. (The flush handle was permanently at a 90 degree angle, which showed its age.) The aircon vent in the bathroom rattled and the sound permeated into the master bedroom. The kitchen had a full size fridge with a freezer combo, an oven, a microwave, a coffee machine, lots of casserole dishes, one small pan, a small pot, one cookie sheet and double sinks. Most of the plates, mugs and bowls were chipped and not uniformed. There were hardly any cooking utensils for a self-catering unit with a bottle opener, a can opener, a metal spatula and a metal pasta spoon. The washing machine and dryer were very old, but worked, which was a blessing.
The balcony sliding door was very sticky and we struggled to open it. There were 3 t.v's in the unit, which was great. The kids bathroom was a good size and the second bedroom was spacious with a cupboard and a chest of drawers. The unit also had an iron, an ironing board and a hairdryer. Unfortunately the couch smelled of vomit in the one corner.
The floor was sticky and the carpets in the bedrooms did not appear to be well vacuumed. We stayed for 14 nights and only received one room clean, on day 7 after I had booked it and requested it twice, although the website states that rooms would be cleaned every 3 days.
Everything about the unit's age and slightly unclean state can be overlooked, but unfortunately the clientele is what ruins this resort. Many overseas tourists, like ourselves, seemed to have similar values of respect for others. Unfortunately those who were not from overseas, seemed to book the resort for an all weekend party. They would stay in a two bedroom unit with 6 adults or more who were ready to party and drink the weekend away. On our last night, we felt unsafe. The unit next door played gangster rap music with obscene words from about 8pm onwards all through the night. They also utilised their balcony, which made their 'house party' grow in occupancy and sound. We felt like we were in the bad part of the Bronx. We heard numerous other clients beg with them to turn down their music, but they were there to party. Eventually security kicked out some of the unwanted extra guests at 4am in the morning. We got about 2 hours of sleep! The happy party goers and their fan club walked around the next morning with slippers on their feet and their hair in shower caps.
Other customers brought their dog to the pool area for a swim. Fortunately the one partner managed to tell his girlfriend to remove the dog from the pool. The two couples then proceeded to take over the whole pool area, to play Marco Polo while families kept trying to stay out of their way or leave the pool all together. Their dog ran around the pool chairs checking take-out containers for left over food. On another occasion families would bring their Li-lo's and pool inflatables, like the pool was theirs. The American clientele were of a different social class and they were there to party with their family and friends. It felt like we were intruding at their house. When we checked out, I had brought our awful night time experience to the manager's attention who brushed it off and gave a light-hearted apology.
I would not recommend this resort at all. We have travelled the world extensively and this was by far one of our least favourite experiences due to the unruly guests. The resort needs an upgrade, but if the clientele doesn't improve, then this resort will surely turn into a one star resort. It no longer has any affiliation with Disney, as Disney has withdrawn all of its Good Neighbour Hotels from...
