San Jose's Original Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Dr. Phillips

We went here only because it was a new Mexican restaurant that had 19 favorable reviews that gave it a 4.6 rating. Well I am her to add another 5 star review as this place blows away any of the other 15 Mexican restaurants that my wife and I have tried over the past 2 years. Let me start by stating that I spoke directly with the owner ( His name is Senovio and he is such a gentlemen) to ask about the quality of the food and the preparation as the guacamole was one of the finest I have ever had. Senovio told me that his crew comes in at 8am to prepare by have all fresh ingredients NEVER frozen or processed. Meats are actually marinated for at least 24 hours before being served as Senovio refuses to simply add sauce to meat being cooked. Needless to say our meal was delicious and served hot. We had the chicken quesadilla and the chicken fajitas... I know I know, yeah yeah so what. Let me tell you that that quesadilla was not covered in cheese to add flavor, it had a kick-ass flavor from the marinated meat... YES you can tell the difference. The same was true with the fajita. Our server was super cool and attentive.. btw he was a very delightful human as well... If your palette craves Mexican as mine does, you will not be disappointed by giving San Jose's original Mexican grill... When you get there ask for Senovio and he will be more than glad to come by your table and website everything is to your liking. BTW . No matter what you NEED TO ORDER THE...

The only reason this establishment received one star is because the food was good, but the service was HORRIBLE! The waitress came to our table one time, to take our order and that was it. We didn’t receive any service. Our drinks were empty, no napkins, and didn’t even receive dinnerware. What should have taken 45 mins at max was a 2 hour ordeal. ANDI had to take my food home to eat. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!

UPDATE** So after leaving this review, I decided to call the manager at this location to express our disappointment. He invited my family back and told us that he would take care of my family and give us 50% off of our meal and additionally a starter/appetizer. Once arriving, I let the manager that was on duty (the woman manager) know what was promised to us. She argued that was never said or communicated and that they could not fulfill that. She had NO customer service skills and was RUDE..

WE are owners of a food business very close to this establishment and I would be appalled to know that my customers and guest were promised something after driving an hour away, but then our team didn’t deliver what was promised and on top of that the previous service before was HORRIBLE!!!

Whoever is running this place, will definitely ruin it. Although you have great food, if your service is awful what do you truly...

I am so sad to leave a one star review for San Jose’s. The food was FANTASTIC, however, our experience was awful. We were seated, and the restaurant was busy. However we sat and waited about 15 minutes and were never acknowledged by staff. Many walked by, and just side eyed us. Finally the sweet chip lady (who was also cleaning tables) seemed concerned and asked if anyone had waited on us. We said no, and she apologized. She took our order and brought us some chips and salsa. The whole night we had no waitress, the poor lady had to keep getting us the things we needed. She tried so hard and did her best to help. There was ZERO management here. The other waitress was rude and completely ignored and disregarded my wife when she asked for a water refill. Again, the chip lady had to come handle it. The poor family beside us sat for no less than 35 minutes when we left and had never been acknowledged by anyone. They finally asked for someone to help them and the other workers went and talked and then continued to ignore them. This is so sad because the food was some of the best we have had in a long time. Sadly without any management, this place will not last...
