I never thought I'd be leaving a review at a Wendy's, but here I am. I encountered the AI drive-through system last week and I still fume about it when I think about it, so apparently I have strong feeling about it. I thought I'd share my thoughts (this is what I'm counting as the atmosphere in my review).
I'm a college student and pretty open to many technological advances, but this feels like we've crossed the line into dystopia, and it feels wrong. It was stressful bc I couldn't ask for recommendations from an actual person, felt rushed bc I didn't know if it would time out, and I was worried about what would happen if it heard me wrong. Like, how could I undo it if the order was wrong? I can't imagine how stressful it would be for someone with a thick foreign accent, or who speaks English as a second language to try to navigate this. Also, it picks up what everyone in the car is saying. It was frustrating, and I bet parents with little kids yelling what they want hate it.
Also, as someone who literally studies human relationships, I think this just takes away one more point of contact with humanity in public. I remember being a teenager rolling up late at night to a drive through and joking with the worker on the other end. My sister met her current boyfriend through person-to-person contact at a food service place. I'm sure there are countless other community-building encounters that others have had in a drive-through.
I get that food service is hard- I've worked in it. I bet the new system frees up hands/ attention in the kitchen to focus on making the food, but I really don't like this change. It doesn't seem to jive with Wendy's mission statement which is, “To Create Joy & Opportunity through Food, Family & COMMUNITY.”
I'M TIRED OF NAVIGATING AUTOMATED SYSTEMS!!!! They already plague doctors' offices and customer service. I guess this pushed me to my breaking point.
Anyway, thanks for listening to...
Read moreWent through the drive-thru. Except for the French fries, they messed up all of the other items on our order. We ordered a Dave's double combo, but with no cheese and no pickles. They gave us a single (at the double price), which had both pickles and cheese on it. We asked for extra ice in the drink, and they didn't ring that in. We also ordered two Double Stacks, both with no cheese and no onions. They rang up only one of the two, but we received a junior bacon cheeseburger with cheese and onions on it, instead of the double stack. I generally prefer not to leave negative reviews, so that I can give the restaurant a chance to resolve the issue. However, I tried calling the number on the receipt, and a different number that comes up using Google maps. Both of them directed me to an automatic answering system that says the individual is not available and that I could leave a message. I did leave a message, but have not heard back from them. Perhaps if they receive negative reviews, they might be more likely to respond to customers and their legitimate complaints. In all fairness, the restaurant is newly opened, and perhaps the employees are still getting the hang of things . Also, it is nice to have a Wendy's closer...
Read moreWorst place ever the Ai drive through sucks and I’ve been there 2 times both times ended up not getting anything, because the AI system will never get your order right, especially if you need any type of accommodations, you constantly have to restart. It’s super slow. It asks you questions over and over again. So this last time, my husband was getting frustrated, trying to order through the system and ended up letting out one cuss word and and that’s how you magically can get A human being to finally respond and help you out. But they will only help you out after they tell you how you should not be using such language to a ai system. So long story short just cuss out the AI system and you’ll get a human To answer. only one cuss word needed👍🏻 Will not go to this location again we’ll end up going to a location that will actually take your order in the way it was...
