Soooo… The Provision Kitchen. I should preface by saying we are on vacation from San Diego… we eat fresh ocean fish at least weekly and the best Mexican food and fish tacos in the USA… so our standards are high but we account for that as we travel. When we walked in the ladies were moderately friendly, bordering on cold. They sat us in the center of the room right in the busiest traffic area. When we asked if we could have one of the many open tables out of the way, we were told no.
My sense is that we chose nearly all of the wrong things. My mom ordered the meatloaf sandwich (house specialty) with a cup of the daily soup salmon chowder, my father ordered a green salad (with homemade blue cheese) and I ordered a taco salad. My son heard the “seasonal fish” was Mahi and decided to go for the fish tacos. 🫣
When the food came, immediately the tacos looked rotten (fish was somehow brown?) and my son took one bite to find the fish was inedible. My dad’s salad was fresh and the dressing was possibly homemade? no real complaints. My taco salad had what appeared to be an unseasoned chopped up burger patty with cheese melted and a pico de gallo salsa and avo slices on top. The lemon oregano dressing was homemade but not a lot of depth of flavor but was ok. The lettuce and pico were fresh, the chips were not home made, but tasted good. My mom said her meatloaf was “meh” in the flavor department but the salmon chowder tasted good. I reordered my son a meal without making a big deal of the gross tacos because the ladies weren’t overly friendly or concerned with whether we liked the food. Plus, shame on us for ordering ocean fish in Idaho. We ordered my son the chilaquiles with an egg on top, and he really enjoyed them.
The food ranged from fresh and good to inedible and possibly dangerous and their service is meh… won’t go back, even though the options in Driggs...
Read moreJust went for brunch. Sat on back patio. Service was mediocre to start and dropped to terrible quickly. My friend and I placed our orders for brunch at 1120ish (omelet, huevos rancheros, and a pancake), then saw several tables who were seated after us get their meals before us. We asked our waitress finally and she said the orders were placed in order of seating and the other table “those are just apps” but ours would be up shortly. Ok, well, we have eyes and a burger and fries is not an “app” in my book. So we chatted some more and saw new tables get their food and still nothing. We did not get any update from our waitress either, so we flagged her again and this time she tells us they ran out of beans so it will be just another few minutes. Still more time went by and we saw servers talking about it and then to the owner who eventually came over. We explained the situation and his response was “it’s between meals and we didn’t know we’d be busy” then “waitresses forget and she probably just forgot” to “it’s been 10 minutes since I saw your order go in and there’s no delay”. He then shared “I will make this right.” We then got our food and a bill for the full amount (I would have expected a discount or free coffee based on the owner’s comment and apparently feigned interest in keeping customers happy). We waited 45-50 minutes for our meal. Neither my friend nor I would have minded the wait (even though our stomachs were growling), what made it a bad experience was the evasion, excuses and failed attempts at making it better. A little apology and honesty would have made it fine. Then to charge us full for the order after the “make it right “ speech from the owner was the nail in the coffin for me to ever suggest we go to Provisions again. The food was average and fair priced, but the service is less than...
Read moreMajor kudos to these guys! Sunday myself and my other pilot where heading to the airport to meet our clients to fly them home. Enroute we learned that catering at our fuel stop had fallen thru. We found this place by doing a quick search for food and called to see if there was anything they could do. It was 7:30am and we were literally driving by while on the phone with them. They said they could put something together for us. We walked in as the one girl behind the counter was taking care of seated customers, serving them breakfast (which looked amazing!) She and whomever was in the kitchen (the only people there) had us walking out 15 minutes later with a complete lunch (during breakfast time) of 12 sandwiches (4 different types) and accompanying potato salad, green salads and all the flatware and fixings to go with it, all while still taking care of their breakfast patrons. We were beyond amazed and appreciative. Fast forward a few hours when we broke out the food. We were amazed again with what they put together! They obviously use nothing but top quality produce and prepared everything as if it was to be served on a plate in their diner. The sandwiches were even toasted when we had said we would be happy with just cold. Clearly they had no desire in compromising their standards, even for a last second rush job! Needless to say, there were 6 VERY happy passengers and 2 more than happy and impressed pilots! Everything tasted wonderful! These guys saved our butts and made us look like rock stars to boot. I hope we get a chance to pass through again because we plan to make sure to stop in for a sit down meal and experience more of what they have to offer! Please check this place out and give them your business, they...
