Teton Homestead — Local services in Driggs

Just had a terrible experience with a Grand Valley Lodging rental at Jackson Hole via VRBO. They cancelled a reservation for a rental due to the owner putting the house up for sale. The cancellation happened on a holiday, weeks after we had originally booked the rental. They then automatically booked us for a worse rental with fewer beds/amenities at another one of their other properties.

So I spent most of my holiday away from my friends/family, repeatedly emailing/calling them trying to figure out what was going on, and looking for a new rental. Nobody got back to me that day, despite me calling and talking to their receptionist within 45 minutes of the cancellation email being sent. He was very pleasant and probably the only silver lining in this experience.

I then asked for some sort of concession given there was much less availability now than when we booked and every option had risen in since price. Outside of a refund, they were completely unwilling to assist us and frankly were not very apologetic about potentially ruining our trip. To me, it sounded like this was business as usual.

If you're looking for a rental agency that respects their renters, keep looking. Will not be booking one of their properties again...

The team at Grand Valley Lodging is first rate. They are based locally so are available and go out of their way to respond to our requests, around the clock. On a recent visit I arrived late and had misplaced the key to the property - they came out immediately and were happy to do it. I have recommended Grand Valley enthusiastically without any reservation to friends and any other travelers to this wonderful area. They are friendly, responsive, beyond ethical and do everything possible to make visitors' experience perfect and issue-free. On two separate occasions, on short notice I needed additional accommodations for friends and family. In each case, they were able to offer great properties at reasonable rates that really helped me out of a tight spot. This company has some great reviews for the short term rentals but not many for long term. I was a long term tenant of 10 plus years and an employee of Teton Homestead. They often defer negative comments to previous owners but this is just a poor excuse. Throughout my renting with Teton Homestead I paid my rent on time and took care of the property as if it were my own. They were performing annual inspections for the property owners but failed to follow through on repairs or only pay attention to the “glaring” repairs needed. They did not return my security deposit upon my exit as a long term tenant. Citing repairs such as garage door jam and kitchen sink. Since when is a tenant responsible for such items? I lived with the kitchen sink for ten years through numerous inspections and nothing was dysfunctional until money is at stake. If you’re a long term tenant don’t be bullied by their tactics.
