Pho House — Restaurant in Duluth

My husband and I are both Vietnamese and are VERY particular when it comes to Pho! We discovered pho house a year ago and keep coming back for MANY reasons. First and foremost, when you enter the restaurant, you’re immediately hit in the face (in a good way) with the aroma of Pho. That’s when you know they’re using every little ingredient to make the pho taste and smell authentic. Secondly, the service is great. Typically, you don’t really go to Pho restaurants for the service, but when you experience good service at a pho (Vietnamese) restaurant, you feel good about spending your money...every penny. Thirdly, the taste... the most important part. It’s becoming difficult to find Pho that doesn’t just strive to cater to Americans because the authenticity gets lost in translation. However, the delicious and authentic taste is consistent every time and the portions are pretty big. Lastly...a very unexpected point that really just made them my GO-TO place... the to-go Pho. My husband and I drove two hours into town to visit family and I was craving Pho House. I talked him into ordering to-go Pho, he even tried to stop me because typically, to-go pho just doesn’t taste the same. To both of our surprise, it was amazingly the same because the restaurant packed our Pho noodles, meat, and veggies in a bowl and actually separated the raw meat. The amount of veggies they gave us was plenty and fresh! The reason why this was an unexpected point is because you can tell the restaurant owner really invested into their restaurant. Every little detail was thought of and even though the plastic bowls do cost a lot more than the styrofoam boxes, it’s worth the cost for them because the presentation was clean and simple. This made it very convenient to mix our Pho. We came home, heated up the broth over the stove, poured it right into the bowls, and BAM... the perfect bowl of Pho! I am telling you, this is how you should run a Pho restaurant. QUALITY is always over QUANTITY, but in this case, they have both quality...

Early review for when it opened. Only had one dish here and it was Mi Quang which isnt on every pho restaurant menu as it's more of a specialty dish that you won't find everywhere. This dish contains egg flat noodle dipped in a thick broth surounded by meat, eggs, veggies, and a rice cracker. Hard to really describe actually. The broth was savory and the meat and noodles were tender and packed lots of flavor. If you want to try something a bit different I would definitely give this a shot.

The restaurant itself is spacious and you have a plethora of seating choices and arrangements. It can definitely pack a full house if needed. The interior décor is probably leftovers of the previous tenants, I believe it's was Korean bakery/cafe. It doesn't take anything away from the Pho restaurant as the old decoration compliment the place well.

The staff and service is average based on my first visit. The give you a large glass water bottle that allows you to refill your own water without them having to do it for you. They check on you at least once while you are eating. So they don't bother you too much. Depending on how busy it is you may or not be able to get their attention, but they do have a button on the table which I'm sure is a left over from the previous tenants that you can push to get their attentions. Didn't try it so bare with me if it doesn't work.

Overall, I'll keep this one rather short. Based on first impressions this place meets my expectations in terms of what I look for in a pho restaurant, it's located in a busy shopping center surrounded by a few businesses so it's sure to get its flow of traffic in and out, which will make it a popular spot for most people out of convenience. Plan on coming back and we'll see if I need to update...
