I usually come to Cuban Eddie's from time to time and never had an issue until today. Although my issue to some people will seem minor, I'm really huge on customer service and sadly I didn't receive the service that I deserved. I ordered food through their website for takeout. I specifically ordered Yellow Rice & Beans, Sliced Avocado, 3 Cheese Empanadas, 1 Veggie Empanada and 1 Apple Pie Empanada. My order come out to exactly $17.20. I stopped by the restaurant 20 minutes after I placed my order to pick it up. Now normally I check my order, before I drive off but in this rare case, I didn't and I wish I have. Once I got home, I realized I only had 4 empanadas, instead of 5. I wasn't going to go back to the restaurant because it was just 1 empanada missing and I would only lose $1.50. It wasn't until I bit into my "cheese" empanada, and realized they gave me Spicy Chicken instead. Now I am a vegetarian, I do not eat meat, so I was truly disgusted that I bit into the empanada. I then opened up the other empanada within that foil and noticed they have gave me 2 Spicy Chicken ones instead of 3 Cheese ones. Then that's when I realized that I have to go drive back and complain. Once I came back to the store, I told the same cashier (her name is Jacklyn) that rang me up earlier, that I received the wrong empanadas. Then that's when she tells me that "Oh I was just about to call you. You owe $2." So I asked her why did I owe her $2? She told me that my debit card only covered about $17 for my order. Mind you, my order was exactly $17.20. My online receipts says that from when I ordered and the receipt she gave me AFTER i paid said the same. I didn't understand where $2 came from. So she's sitting there with a slight attitude looking in the register system for the transaction, just to realize that she was wrong and then said "Nevermind, we will get you your 3 Cheese Empanadas. Wait outside" I was furious at that point because, even if I did have to owe $2, it should of been waived for the inconvenience this restaurant is causing me, for having to drive all the way back because they decided to mess up my order. Also, the employee should have noticed there was an outstanding balance, if there is one. Of course there wasn't thought because I was given a receipt that I paid for my WHOLE order. The manager of the restaurant and walked out during this interaction. I wish he would have been there so I can express my concern and my unsatisfactory service. I am not sure if I'll ever come back because I just did not like how that employee handled...
Read moreMy bf and I initially got dressed up for a date night to eat a the local cuban place given the good reviews. We also called and asked if it was BYOB, and the female on the other line asked someone who said, "yes alcohol is okay, but we don't have cups." I thought that meant they did not have glasses or something but they meant cups lol. We show up and realize cuban eddie's is at the end of street near the firehouse (super deserted at night). When we walked in there were only 2 tables that could fit maybe 8 people in the entire place. Its more of a take out or delivery. We decided to order the Cuban staples (my bf is Cuban and a good critic), croquetas, papa rellena, caldo gallego, cuban sandwich, white rice and black beans, ropa vieja and some grilled chicken. The food was tasteful. The croquetas were great, papa rellena was good. The caldo gallego was missing the meat, just had beans and pork fat (they missed the mark on this one). The cuban sandwich was cold even though we had just sat there and waited for everything to be made. Its not a big deal because my bf liked it, just saying. The white rice and black beans were good (they had flavor). I loved the ropa vieja and the sauce. My bf said it was okay but I liked it. The grilled chicken and onions is grilled chicken and onions lol but i put some of the ropa vieja sauce and viola delish! Overall, i would recommend. But don't get dressed up, its like a cuchifrito in the Bronx to pick up your food. Theres a table or two but its not for a...
Read moreI put in a take out order here for lunch. I was happy to see they offered wide range of dishes, including sandwiches, soups, salads, empanadas, chicken/beef/pork dishes with rice and beans sizes. The dishes came in lunch and dinner portion sizes. They also had flan and rice pudding, two of my favorite desserts.
Upon arriving, easily found parking in front of the store. The restaurant is relatively small, couple of tables, lots of boxes around, not really a dine-in spot, mostly good for take outs. It was pretty busy, few customers were in line. Upon my turn, I asked them about my order, and they handed it over to me right away. Was happy to see the order was ready at promised time despite the rush.
Among the food, loved the beef empanada, was the best item for me. It had ground beef inside, delicious taste. But I didn’t the chicken empanada as much. The chicken was shredded and bland. The grilled basa fish was good, two filet cooked well, that came with some lettuce. The chicken lunch platter was surprisingly a big platter, came with 2 pieces of huge chicken leg and potatoes. This stew chicken was much better, very soft and moist inside.
I was relatively happy with the food. I found few items I liked, and looking to try some new...
