Herman's Bakery & Catering — Restaurant in Dundalk

Ive been going here for over 30 years. Great and friendly staff..great prices and amazing pruducts. If youve never had their smear cake..its like cheesecake than you HAVE to try it. But be warned...its VERY addictive and beat serves chilled. Im actually writing the reveiw beacuse I just got back from there today with my mother whos been going there even longer than I have. Well they had a fresh pan os smear cake and wanted to grab 3 pieces. They are big pieces. Well the young guy was very nice..braught it out so I could choose my 3 pieces cause Im not a huge fan of the corners. Now mind you Ive been going there my whole life and as with them and any bakery..Im able to choose the slice I want..or the cupcake or tart or cookies or whatever it is Im buying they always let me and any customers choose the piece. Obviously I want the piece most enticing to myself. As anyone would. Well the manager who mind you has ALWAYS let me choose what Id like.. was in a grouchy mood and as she walked by I was telling my mother to also pick out a piece for herself so at this point I wanted to purchase a half of a tray and she overheard and stopped and told me and my mother that we cannot just pick and choose the pieces that we want to buy. Very rudely...and very unprofessional to bring your bad day and attitude out onto the customers..let alone as loyal as 2 customers as the store could have. I felt VERY disrespected and told the young guy helping us that actually were not even going to purchase the smear cake pieces now. She can just loose the sale and potentially 2 very loyal customers. I wouldnt have baught the tarts or peachcake if it wasnt already boxed by the young guy that served us. He kept apologizing as he also knew how rude it was. And also that picking what most entices you is also your right as a customer in a professional custom bakery like Hermans..as did the customer that was right before us did as well..she didn't say anything to her. I really love this place and love the products..they really are the best and last good bakery around but Im not one who likes dealing with people like her and am not sure what we will decide to do in the future regarding going back but I just wanted the owner to know cause that very bad for business. Ive never spent less than $40 per visit and go Atleast once a month so I am a very loyal customer not including the rest of my family who also grew up going there and still do. I hope this is a one time accurance. I wouldve love to be enjoying some smear cake for a snack tonight but itis what it is. Thanks. Hope the...

YOU GOT TO CHECK OUT HERMAN'S I'VE ALWAYS HEARD! LOL 😜 SOOOOOOO......we FINALLY visited here ! after passing by here so MANY times over the YEARS ! and NOW living in the AREA, we decided to FINALLY stop by AND SEE WHAT ALL THE FUSS WAS ABOUT! it happened to be MY MOM'S FAVORITE PLACE CONSEQUENTLY ! AND She also HADN'T been here in MANY years AS WELL ! so of course, she was VERY EXCITED ! She's been talking about how she's been wanting to get to Herman's bakery now ever since we moved over here 6 months ago ! 😉 So INTO Herman's we WENT ! LOL 🤪 EVERYONE was VERY FRIENDLY and ATTENTIVE ! 😁 WE tried JUST ABOUT every dessert they make ! LOL 🤪 NOT A PLACE TO GO IF YOU'RE TRYING TO KEEP YOUR DIET IN CHECK! LMBO 😜 THE VERDICT: everybody has their OWN RECIPE ! 😉 What one person has a taste for, someone else MAY NOT ! Such as life ! THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH TRYING SOMETHING FOR THE FIRST TIME OR JUST TRYING IT PERIOD I always say ! 😉 Overall ,I thought everything tasted pretty good 😉 I DID TRY MY PERSONAL FAVORITE ! the CHOCOLATE MERINGUE PIE !😜 UNFORTUNATELY, it was a LITTLE OVER SWEET and a LITTLE to THICK for my liking 😉 but it was STILL pretty good !😉 I'm used to the "Giant Brand" chocolate meringue, that's been my favorite so far, I like it the Best ! it's smooth ,light , creamy and delicious ! And best of all... it's not sickening sweet ! 😉 The cookies here were of course ALL GOOD ! The sugar cookies were MY FAVORITE ! 😁 I got sugar cookies ,peanut butter cookies and m&m cookies ! Had to try them all ! 😜 You wait ALL THESE YEARS to visit a place, you BETTER MAKE it WORTH THE STOP ! LOL 😜🤪😉 we spent a total of about $32 in desserts, including my MOM'S FAVORITE ,which was the strawberry shortcake ! that's her FAVORITE ! An $8 block serves 4 people adequately ! Pretty normal prices for any bakery 😉 OVERALL, it was a PRETTY GOOD experience ! I'm pretty much in the middle about everything I tasted, I prefer the Amish Market over any bakery I've ever been to, no offense to any bakery 😉 REAL, FRESH, WHOLESOME INGREDIENTS MAKE ANY RECIPE THE BEST ! 🥰 REGARDLESS, I'm sure my mom will AT LEAST be sending me up here for MORE strawberry shortcake in the VERY NEAR FUTURE LOL !🤪 she ABSOLUTELY LOVES Herman's strawberry shortcake ! My mom is old school and what mom SAYS !...

I went to Hermans to order a sheet cake and 2 dozen cupcakes for my daughter's baby shower. They did a great job on her wedding cake so i thought it would be the best place to order. I went in and a little lady by the name of Morgan took my order. She was very pleasant and friendly. So i picked out my image which was a unicorn and told her to put blue eyes and a purple banner made from fondant on the bottom with what i wanted written on it. I asked for the unicorn horns to be fondant also so that it would all be edible. She puts everything in and reads it back to me perfectly. I go in on Saturday to pick up my cake and i had no banner. It was written right on the cake. I told the lady they did it wrong and she said if i wanted to wait she would have them fix it. I told her i had a party to set up and no time to wait. When we went to set up the cake at the shower i realize that the horns were plastic. I was really disappointed. Like they had from the 11th to the 21st and couldn't get it right. Second off i called the store and ask for the manager and was told they dont have a manager. Then she took my complaint and looked it up and said i wasnt charged for the banner or fondant horns. I paid $100. And didn't get what i ask for. The only reason i gave 2 stars is because the cake was good. Never again. Next time i will take my business elsewhere. Still no phone call from whoever she talked to about my complaint. Guess they just dont care. Well they just...
