(just to pre-warn you I am using the voice transpose to text feature on my phone so please excuse the poor grammar)....
I stopped over here like I often do when I'm out by Woodman's and I just was going to hit some range balls couldn't help but notice the parking lot was near empty but the kind of empty where it was going to get really busy because I know from experience that means a golf outing is probably coming shortly.... I went inside the man in the pro shop on 8 - 8 - 25 at around 8:30 in the morning couldn't have been nicer I asked him about the three whole course he was very kind and guess what happened? On the third hole I'm not going to lie to you it was not my first shot it was my second shot on the third hole which is the last hole I got a hole-in-one! Obviously I know it's not a real hole-in-one it's not on an official course it was a mulligan and there are no witnesses but I don't care I have to tell someone so I'm telling Google reviews.. Good karma all around and I was very relaxed probably why I hit it right in the hole... My first shot was really close too! 111 yds (adjusted to slope) and maybe 5-8mph downwind.... Hit a nice 3/4 52° wedge right in the hole.... Interestingly with a ball I've never played before in my life I stopped this morning at Walmart and bought a dozen Vice golf balls! I guess I'll keep them in my bag a while longer.... Anyway I had a long history of discourse back in the mid-90s I tried out here for the Fremd golf team.... Yes I know Palatine is nowhere near here but our coach always varied the tryout sites it was not at our home course which is Palatine hills only for one day it was there.... So I remember this place well and have fun memories obviously a lot has changed for the better even but playing that old few holes along Randall road brought back memories of the way the old course used to be.... And to cap it off with a hole in one was just perfect!

Read moreWe had a bit of a rocky start with Randall Oaks. They had a switch in coordinators, and our wedding sort of got lost in translation. Once Kim got a hold of us though, everything fell wonderfully in place. The chef put together a custom menu just to fit our theme! The food was delicious, guests just kept telling us how fantastic everything tasted! They accommodated for several of our vegan guests and provided a kids meal as well. At the rehearsal the day before, Kim met with us and helped our officiant wrangle up our very large, disorderly wedding party. She then took all of our decorations and had them set up for us, so when we came in the day of, everything was exactly as we wanted it. On wedding day, it rained, and they quickly moved everything inside and set it up so that we didn’t miss a beat. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, constantly asking what they could do or get for us. We really felt special and had barely any stress. After the party ended and the lights came on, they sprang into action, helping our families take everything down and pack it away. When everything was said and done, they were very helpful, inclusive, and budget friendly. We definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a beautiful place to get married. They certainly gave us a wedding we will...
Read moreI wish I loved Randall Oaks. Pros: A great driving range. A beautiful course which while beginners may feel overwhelmed on at times it's definitely a challenge and a good round of golf. When I first started to golf a few years ago I took lessons here with Bob Mertel and he definitely did a fantastic job of giving me the foundations in the 5 lesson package. *Their Acorn 3-hole Par 3 is a great way to start out new golfers.
Cons: The staff (other than their Pro's) are neutral to unfriendly. They push rate of play on the course to the point that it's hard to relax and enjoy a round of golf. With that being one of the fundamental points of going out to golf this is a big issue with me. Since they're always busy, they haven't had to bother with improving the customer service side of their business. The club house is a bit simplistic. Not surprising for it being a park district course it's just in stark comparison to the quality of the greens.
In summary I really want to love Randall Oaks, and if they ever figure out customer service then this could quickly become one of my favorite courses, but right now I tend to only come for the driving range and then play elsewhere such as Pinecrest or...
