Read moreMy husband suggested we try Salsa Verde when they opened a couple weeks ago. We went on taco Tuesday and ordered tacos de asada, chorizo, and pastor. You could order the tacos as a combo with rice/beans and a drink for an additional $3. I ordered an additional order of rice and beans for the kids to try. He had high hopes and rated the food decent. I didn’t expect much from a Mexican restaurant around here as I’ve been let down from all the others in/surrounding the area. To my surprise we walked in and saw a full staff of Mexicanos. Now I was excited. That gave me hope. Except the customer service was not very welcoming. As for the food, asada was skirt steak. Pastor was decently cooked as well as the chorizo. The “beans” were inedible as was the reheated rice. Yet my husband was once again willing to give it another shot this week. We ordered the same taco combo’s except now you had to pay $3 extra for the rice and beans AND an additional $3 for a drink. The skirt steak was not the same, my husband and I called it “gray meat”. The pastor was a taco of grease. They must’ve not made profit as expected the first week and had to make some changes. Unfortunately we won’t be going back. Hopefully they continue to make changes...
Read moreFirst time trying this place as it was only a mile from me and I'm a big fan of Mexican Food. My first impression was it was basically a fast-food Mexican food experience. This place is like a mix of Chipotle and Guzman y Gomez. Didn't really give me that authentic Mexican vibe. I ordered the kids quesadilla, cali bowl, salso verde bowl and a cali burrito. It was busy and employees looked chaotic but they just opened so no biggie. One thing they missed was....i said fries on the side for the bowl. They just didn't give me any! Was quite surprised they had fries in a burrito. I'm a big burrito fan...but fries in it just don't mix..imo. It made it dry and eating a potato in a burrito just isn't tasty. The bowls were ok. Meat was flavorable but for the price, Chipotle gets you more options. My biggest downside to this place is...it's very PRICEY for what you get. I paid over $52 for 4 items! I can pay this dining in at El-Faro which is more authentic Mexican food. Overall, I'll give it 2 stars since it's my first experience. I would've given it a generous 3-stars, BUT it was just too expensive in today's economy given the competition elsewhere. I would comeback, but it wouldn't be my 1st choice for...
