This place was great! They specialize in grilled chicken. They cook it fresh right there for you. I only gave it 4 stars because I would have liked a more crispy chicken skin. The meat, however, was so juicy!
As it was our first time there, we went for the 1/4 chickens, which come with 2 sides. The white meals were like $15 and the dark was around $12. They have bottle & can drinks available as well - both alcoholic and non. We (there were 3 of us) had 4 beers, a soda and then found out they have sangria! So we got 2 glasses - they also have a pitcher! The amount of food and the quality was definitely worth the money. Which honestly was less expensive than anything in Downtown Dunedin.
If chicken isn't your thing, there were quite a few other things on the menu. I'm looking forward to trying the empanadas when I go back.
Now let's talk about the atmosphere - it's amazing! This place is a food truck that they've made permanent, but don't worry they have a large unattached grill where they cook the chicken over fire. All seating is out door. The patio is large, with lots of seating and many awnings to sheid from the sun. The landscaping is very well done in a lush tropical way. It's also right off the road but you don't get a lot of road noise. Even if the food wasn't that great, I would find a reason to come here to hang out. We went early-ish on a Sunday evening. There was a cool breeze and it was so relaxing.
Parking is around back. It looks like you're pulling into a shop that sells outdoor furniture, but I assure you it's the right place. In fact, all their tables and chairs look like they got it from the patio store (I'm pretty sure they own both).
Can't recommend this...
Read moreWe have been here a few times. The quality of food is usually on point. We went here Saturday night and while it usually takes a bit for our food to arrive it took 45 minutes. But we understand quality takes time. We got a whole chicken with 4 sides. The yucca fries and rice were cold, but the plantains and beans were nice and hot. We dumped the beans on the rice and everything was fine. We got 3 thigh pieces and 1 breast, we would have said something, but we didn't want to wait any longer and accidents happen. Unfortunately the chicken was not on point for me that night. Much more smokey than it has been in the past, I can't eat smoked food, but I was so hungry and I paid for it because I was sick the rest of the night, but my husband was thrilled. He loves smokey food. He ate it all. Plus our empanada. Sometimes places just have off nights, and it seemed like we had come right after a dinner rush.
Besides that night (for me, not my husband) their food is amazing. Some of the best empanadas I have had. Their steak is awesome and the people who run it are just so friendly. Good sangria. And the atmosphere is so beautiful! I really feel like I'm out of the country! Which is fabulous because I have a vacation state of mind.
My only complaint is you have to buy bottled water. While I hydrate with sangria, My husband drinks annentire pitcher of water when we go out, so not having free water...
Read moreThe food is phenomenal. The chicken was excellent, along with the sweet plantains and the pork empanada. I loved the little sauces they brought out with the meal. The rice and beans needed salt, but was ok. The main issues were the waitress didn't speak English, so it was next to impossible to communicate with her, and the big one - the food took over 30 minutes to come out. Luckily, we weren't starving, but our drinks were melted and close to empty by the time we got our food, and we were just tired of waiting. We ordered two different empanadas and we were served them both in same basket with no differentiators. I asked the waitress if she could tell me which was which, but she didnt understand.
Since it's all outdoors, prepare for flies.
After all the food was eaten, we wanted to order more empanadas, but we couldn't spare the time so we paid and left. We will 100% go back, but we will be...
