Two Burgers to go were excellent! Unfortunately my 6 year old and I were supposed to get fries. Instead double cole slaw. Which sadly was close to a health code violation of nasty. Should have been thrown out. Spoke to the manager by phone. I said brother not looking for a full refund or anything ...great burgers... He said thnx for the info I'll look 8nto it and hung up politely lol. No, we'll make you some fries? Or how about a half off next time? I don't believe in handouts. 28 dollars to risk getting sick and no reciprosity of any kind? Tragically farewell brewery. Not the first time they dropped the ball. My bad no doubt its a place for mas consumption of alcohol and sub par music. All the best to the crew. And avoid the slaw!
Update: As I have never reviewed anything ever 😄. I'm unsure if edit is how to answer you ambiguous unnamed manager. The Brewery was way better when James ran it. No offense but you people were RAF more than once. You especially sir with a side of holier-than-thou. I was trying to be kind. Which these days is interpreted as weakness. If you didn't barf after tht nasty slaw and served it to someone else good on you. I said my son was the fry guy. Sorry tht wasn't clear enough writing in my musings. I'd had the papaya slaw when James ran the Brewery and it was awesome! Like everything else was then. Was his wife the chef? I can't remember. Keep your free frys lol. I'd recommend the Rusty Lyon. Read moreMy wife and I walked in one afternoon to have some lunch and a beer; we are somewhat new to the area and had never been there before. I asked for a couple different beer samples to try since I had no idea what to expect (some of their beers are just named red, gold, pale, etc.). I wanted to make sure I was going to enjoy the pint I was about to invest in. I did not really like the two samples I tried and asked politely for a 3rd. At this point the bartender acted like this was some huge inconvenience for her, there was some eye rolling, she slid me the sample and she then completely (and blatantly) ignored us from that point on. She served everyone else at the bar, talked with other coworkers, and walked past us at least 30 times never making eye contact or asking how I liked the 3rd beer sample (which I did want to purchase a pint of). I am not sure what happened here; we were very friendly to her.
Every other brew pub or tap house I have ever been to has never taken issue with sampling a few beers before making a decision on a pint. We just got up and left after being ignored for over 10 minutes. We were never even offered a menu or asked if we wanted to order any food (and we did want to order lunch). We will certainly not be back; there are plenty of restaurants, brew pubs and tap houses in Dunedin and the surrounding areas that offer way better service and frankly, judging from the samples I tried, better beer. Read moreMy Husband and I have been a long time Dunedin Resident. We enjoy the beer and food at the brewery, but this evening’s customer service was appalling. We were seated at a table close to the stage waiting to be served. The server greeted us and informed that the table we were seated is now being taken away in preparation for the band. The server apologized and offered us an empty table next to the one that we were seated and everything was settled.
Moments later, a different server (Ashley) told us that the table where we were just relocated to is now being taken away due to tonight’s show. Confused, we responded that our server had just moved us from the neighboring table. Ashley ignored our concern and told us to leave the table despite the fact that we had our drinks served and food ordered. As a result, we asked for our food to be wrapped up to go and finished our first and last drink from this establishment. The situation would’ve been better handled if Ashley apologized for the inconvenience and offered to find an available table for us rather than just telling us to leave the table.
We are now left with a very bad taste in our mouths for how badly we were treated by Ashley. I hope that the management values excellent customer service as it is just as important as providing excellent beer and food that many enjoy including ourselves. Tonight’s experience will most likely keep us from coming back no matter how good the beer...
