This is hands down my favorite restaurant within 50 miles. I’ve been here several times and always come here to celebrate our anniversary too. The food is always fresh and high quality, well seasoned. They also can do something no other Mexican restaurant that I have ever been to can do, make tamales. If you have ever had an authentic tamale you know that to find one at a restaurant is a near impossible task. This place is closest I have ever had to the real day in a restaurant. Other restaurants their tamales are basically Mexican cornbread, or they’re smothered in cheese, not here! Los magueyes can’t touch this place in terms of quality either. Here at Riviera Maya I don’t think they have anything on their menu that isn’t tasty, I’ve always been very satisfied no matter what I get. The portion sizes are good, I often have leftovers for snacking later. Food prices are very good for the quality you’re getting as well. Mixed drinks (alcoholic) are more on the pricy side, they are not the main attraction here anyway. Atmosphere is top notch. Inside is wonderfully decorated. The guacamole cart is a nice touch and their fresh guacamole is the best I’ve ever had. Looking from the outside you would imagine what it looks like inside, they did an excellent job with the place. The dining area and bathrooms are always clean. Servers provide great service. I recommend this place any time I can no one has ever been disappointed by them. All I can say is that I’m amazed our little town of dunnellon ended up with such a gem, but I’m very happy we did.

It’s always nice to see something new. The atmosphere and spirit of the place is impressive and uplifting. The staff is happy and it shows in their smile and friendliness. Simply taking a walk to the restroom and being able to engage with staff while viewing the Latin art and decor is something most establishments don’t have. Their selection of tequila is what you would expect to find only in Mexico. While the food was mediocre and mostly “restaurant chain-style” by my standards, I found the portion size and the presentation to be more than satisfactory. Because my son and I are married to 1st generation Latinos we’ve both come to enjoy true Latin zing and flavors in our Mexican dishes. I’ve tried preparing Mexican dishes and find it particularly difficult to get the spices right. But, when I experience a restaurant like Don Pepe’s around the corner, I understand immediately how they have survived for 30 years or longer. If you’re taking the kids or a larger party for Mexican food in Dunnellon, Riviera Maya is you only option IF you want to sit together. With plenty of free shopping mall parking and good lighting, you’ll likely accept this little “chain-style” restaurante’ as a home-run. And…finally-pricing. Party of 5 for dinner was less than $70 (2 wonderful margaritas, 2 beers)! Try it out and report back! Adios Amigos!

Fun, bright, energy flowing atmosphere. Specials are listed outside. We were surprised there is no Tuesday taco special. I chose to pick from the ala cart and chose a Ground Beef Chili Relleno and Chicken Tamale. My husband ordered from the “pick 2” which was a Pork Tamale and a Ground Beef Enchilada-his plate included rice and beans. Presentation was great but unfortunately the inside of my tamale didn’t get heated through so I decided to bring it home and reheat later. The chili relleno was delicious. Husband’s plate was really good he said. I did quietly mention to the server about the tamale being cold so they can maybe prevent the next customers from having it served that way. She was very nice and I assured her I didn’t need a new one, the one I had was fine except it just wasn’t heated through to the middle. We did have to go back in after we left because the drink special, The Skinny Margarita, was to be 8.99 and we were charged 10.99. She was nice and refunded cash to refund the difference. So just ask for a receipt when you pay or ask to see the bill prior. She had already brought up the total due before we could see the breakdown so that’s why I opted for a receipt. As we were leaving we saw the price discrepancy. I think it’s a great place just a few misses but overall, we’d go again and just be more aware.
