I was really hoping this place would be awesome but it really didn’t meet my expectations- it took them 40 minutes to make my hot sandwich on a Saturday at lunch time. They have a good variety of drinks- a topochico was $3.50! Sandwich value was fine- $10 for mine.

The thing that really got me though- they announce your name over a loud speaker and a name was getting called out every few minutes so don’t expect to have a good quality conversation, especially on a busier day. On the day I went several people didn’t pick their sandwiches up soon after being called so the person on the loudspeaker was straight up screaming names on the mic. So loud and unnecessary.

The set up is fine on the top floor but downstairs there’s a wall of wines and beers and tables right in front of it so we had people almost on top of us the entire time looking at the wall of wine or playing the video game and toy machines right behind us. Maybe remove that table so people’s butts aren’t in peoples faces that are sitting down?!

TLDR: The sandwich was good- get it to go, the experience inside was pretty meh. Wouldn’t recommend overall if you want a place to sit down for lunch.

PS- Parking is mostly street parking, i parked about a block down as it was busy on the street...

The place looks nice, but the wait time was too ridiculously long for a sunday afternoon lunch that I wasn’t able to order. It is my opinion that a restaurant that specializes in making sandwiches should not take 45 minutes (which was actually a very conservative estimate) to make a turkey and provolone sandwich, even with 10-15 people ahead in queue. My group of friends ended up having to cancel their orders since they did not expect to be waiting for an hour, and we had to get going. One of the women who were serving orders was also rude to my friend, and their concern was not acknowledged and directly dismissed by the manager. I understand the place is new, but they are unprepared for an average volume of people on a Sunday afternoon and are unwilling to...

This is always a wonderful place, to eat. I came to Study This morning, and walked down stairs to where I was the only person. I sat down at a booth in front of the bar studied, and watched the Jimmy Carter funeral (RIP). Which was already ON. About 45 mins later two people come down and sit at the bar and proceed to speak poorly of the program, and then ask it to be changed by the manager who accompanied them down stairs. I politely say that I am watching the program. and then is proceeded to be made to feel "othered" Less than, and invalidated by wanting to watch something that was already Playing. I will chose to spend my Days off somewhere else where I will not be treated in such a manner. As a person of Color this is so...

I have been to this shop a couple times, it seems like a cool place. They just opened up recently so I know it will improve as more things are established and vendors open up. I wish it was more of a bodega or convenience store. I think the area would benefit from a small shop to pick up the essentials like milk, bread, butter, etc. It can still have all the other things that make Common Market special, like the bar and other vendors. I just wish that they were more affordable. I have no doubt that they will have success with their current business model. I was just hoping for something a little different. Either way, great place and I wish them well. Definitely worth checking them out. They are unique addition to the Durham area.

I recently had breakfast at Common Market in Durham and really enjoyed the experience! The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, with friendly and helpful staff who made me feel right at home. The food came out quickly and was delicious, and I appreciated the ample seating options both indoors and outdoors—great for enjoying a relaxed meal in a bustling environment. One note is that since they have multiple vendors, you may need to check out separately for food and coffee, but it’s a minor inconvenience compared to the overall positive vibe and quality. Highly recommend for a great breakfast stop in Durham!

Looked up great quick bites and lunch in the area, found this gem. Parking is limited but not terrible. The guy who assisted us in ordering was very informative and attentive. We had a Cobb salad and the Pimpin’D, a pimento cheese sandwich with tomato and bacon. Both entrees were excellent. Quality ingredients, much of it locally sourced. They have sandwiches, soups, salads. Vegan friendly and GF available. Additionally there is a coffee counter as well as a bar. Ice cream next door.
