This place was highly recommended for how good there food is. I ordered some food from them and stopped by to pick my plate up. Order was put in around 3:15pm. The young lady at the cash register asked my name and looked up my order and I paid. Once I paid she kindly told me they’ll call my name when my food was ready. Patiently waiting, I started to see ppl getting there orders before me and I had already ordered, they were coming in placing orders and receiving there plates within 15-20 minutes of waiting. I waited until about 4:15pm then I stepped to the spot where ppl are handed there orders. I politely asked did they have an order for Adrienne back there or had it been made. The young lady who I gave my money to told me that I may have to put my order in again because she didn’t see a ticket with my name on it. Then a gentleman asked me for my receipt and I told him I didn’t get one but I paid already. Instead of looking up my order and printing off a ticket to make my food the young lady and the gentleman proceeded to keep taking orders from ppl walking in the restaurant. I was ignored for about 5 more minutes until I jumped back in line and decided to ask for my money back. Once I got to the register I asked for my money back, the young lady that took my order looked up my name and said she thought she handed me my food, I said no I didn’t get my food. So in order to get my refund she has to get a manager. Young man with glasses came to the register with a terrible attitude and started pressing the buttons on the screen really hard then he opened the register and gave me my refund. I said thank you and he said nothing and walked away. No one apologized for misplacing my ticket, no one offered to get my ticket printed off to make my food and everybody I came in contact with trying to check on my order was rude. The worst experience ever from a black owned restaurant. I didn’t leave the restaurant until 4:30pm...
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate experience with the owner of let’s eat soul food while dining at another local restaurant. It’s always disappointing when someone with such potential for positivity in the community—especially the owner of a black-owned business—chooses to exhibit behavior that is less than gracious. As a patron of her own establishment, she would likely want to foster a welcoming environment, yet when dining out herself, she displayed a level of condescension and rudeness that was truly off-putting.
It’s one thing to wear your restaurant's brand proudly; it’s another to embody the complete opposite of the warmth and hospitality that any good restaurant owner should encourage. The way she interacted with both staff and other patrons was a stark contrast to the values she likely wishes to instill in her own restaurant. It was difficult to overlook her aggressive tone, dismissive attitude, and general lack of courtesy to those around her. I couldn’t help but think: if she wouldn’t want her employees treated this way, why is she comfortable acting this way herself?
When you're in a position of leadership, particularly in a community-focused business, people pay attention to how you treat others. It’s essential to set an example that aligns with the standards you claim to uphold. In this case, unfortunately, her actions spoke louder than her brand ever could.
As someone who values supporting local businesses, especially those that represent black ownership, it’s hard not to feel disappointed. I truly hope she takes the time to reflect on the example she sets, both in the restaurant and in public, as her behavior could be a significant deterrent to future customers who may not feel welcome in such an environment. Everyone deserves respect, and it would be refreshing to see her practice what she likely preaches at her own...
Read moreThis by far has been the best soul food I have had in the triangle area I waited until my 3rd visit to write this review just to see if the food and service is consistent. Starting with the food I ate the shrimp the fish as far as the meats and for sides I have had the Mac and cheese the yam's and the potatoe salad and all of it was fire the shrimp and fish were seasoned so well and the Mac and cheese was very cheesy (no pun intended) and hoy and fresh the yam's were the best I have had come out of a restaurant in while and the don't get me started on the potato salad it was delicious 😋. So far I only tried one dessert and that's the pudding sugar cookie flavor to be specific and it was the best I have had in awhile. I am glad they opened this location because it's right around the corner from my job. My first visit was to the Fayetteville st location and I didn't have the best experience there more so the service they got my food wrong 3 times and only offered a soda for the inconvenience food was still great but this location so far the staff has been great and service has been fast. So if you took the time to read this long review you should take the time to visit this place my new favorite soul food place to bad it's not in Raleigh but still...
