The Spud Jr — Restaurant in East Grand Forks

This is the second time I’ve been here. Both times for wings because they are really good.

The wings were a 10 again but the Summer Shandy tasted watered down and I also ordered their signature burger, the one with Gouda Cheese!!! I asked for no jalapeños (because they’re canned, not fresh).

She asked if I wanted fries with it and I immediately said yes until I realized that it comes with fries on the burger so I opted for no side instead.

When it came out, we had already finished our wings and our drinks and I cut it in half and looked inside. The burger had semi melted cheddar cheese on it (according to the server) and I asked if it was supposed to have Gouda and she said it “might have both?”

I asked about the fries on it and she said she said she didn’t know where they were (she was the one who told me it came with fries on the burger and the reason I didn’t get a side of fries). We never touched the burger or the plate again. It was untouched.

She came back with our check and took my wife’s card (on the table for the entire meal) when we hadn’t even touched the burger. She dropped the card back off to the table as she hurriedly rushed by and didn’t say anything so we couldn’t either.

So here’s a pic of their $14 burger with no side, no Gouda, no fries, and unmelted cheddar cheese.

Before leaving (yes, we were charged for it all), I helped myself to a to go box to feed this to our dogs.

After waiting 10 minutes, I didn’t feel like getting up to find someone who could address this or find our server so, admittedly, we never actually complained beyond our server.

We chose this place for a late Saturday afternoon lunch. It was basically when we went in and pretty much the whole time we were there. Friendly staff greeted us as we walked in and told us to sit wherever we wanted. We have a family of 5 and the only table with 5 chairs was dirty but our waitress wiped it down and we sat. We got the pickle dip, and it was absolutely amazing! The potato chips were actually fresh potatoes and fried, not frozen. Then we got our main entree's, burgers for the adults and chicken tenders and Mac and cheese for the kids. Everybody loved their food, especially the kids! The burgers were made fresh, and the fresh cut fries were very delicious. We did order a side of beer cheese that was tasty, but it wasn't hot enough to be thoroughly melted so I wouldn't advise ordering a side of that. But even our oldest who never ever finishes anything she orders anywhere, ever, and never ever talks to anyone, got up and went to the waitress and ordered another helping of the Mac and cheese. We ate and paid and went on about our way. The only con we all agreed on was the flies. There is outdoor seating and sometimes a waitress would not close the screen door when she went out to wait is what we guess they came from. I was so excited to try this place after seeing pictures and reading the reviews. The cesar is what one mr over. I was sadly very disappointed in my experience and probably won’t be coming back. There were about a total of 15 tables in the whole establishment and about 4-5 servers. The service was absolutely ridiculous. It took about 20 minutes before anyone asked us if we wanted anything to drink. I ordered the cesar, (if u are going to order it, order it right away as the server mentioned it takes about 10min to make...grilled cheese?) my Cesar came about 15min later with half the fixings bc it “wasn’t ready” yet. My boyfriend ordered a beer and they never came over to check on us nor to see if he needed a refill. We ordered Poutine fries. We were not impressed as they were burnt.
