We were driving through Grand Forks and wanted to get some coffee. After reading the review we wanted to try out this coffee place hoping our experience will also be great as most people have described. Unfortunately, we did not have a very good experience. Since it was my first time, i asked what was the most popular coffee on the menu. The girl who was taking our order looked at me like thats the strangest question to be asking and i should already know the answer. The guy standing behind her stepped infront and explained which was the famous one and i ordered that. It took ~20 mins for me to get my Latte (small). I had requested and paid EXTRA for the whipped cream. There were 4 guys standing behind the counter talking and one guy trying to make all the orders while the girl was taking the orders at the register. After waiting patiently i asked how much longer will i have to wait for my coffee, she rolled her eyes and said “you wanted whipped cream and we are trying to make the whipped cream which is why it’s taking time more time!” I said ok and waited. I had specifically asked to make my latte hotter than usual, but when i received it, it was colder than normal. And I asked why it wasnt even like normal hot coffee and the girl again in a very annoyed way answered because my latte had to sit and wait for them to make the whip cream because i wanted whipped cream. And walked away. I thought that was very rude and poor customer service. I don’t think i would want to go back there again because i am paying for my coffee, i am not asking for free for me to be given such an attitude. It was a...
Read moreMy experience at the Ember was perfect. I arrived with snot frozen to my face, compliments of North Dakota's weather. I needed to warm up. Simply put I looked like a mess, but was treated with dignity and respect. Once my eyeballs thawed, I noticed a friend sitting there and asked if I could sit down. I felt a little awkward because I never know if they are just being polite or truly want me to sitdown. Not having much money, God helped me get a cup a coffee. The coffee was warm and somehow began to warm my insides, while my extremities continued to tingle. I liked the decorations, and the lighting. There are amazing things to read, and cool little books and pamphlets that I enjoy so that I learn about Grand Forks. Most importantly, I knew I was right where I was supposed...
Read moreAll-around my favorite study spot, coffee, and place to chill in Grand Forks! The space is modern and aesthetic while still feeling cozy and inviting. As a student, I love the variety of seating where I can plug in my computer and sip on my coffee for a few hours, from the window seating to the tables where I can spread out and the comfy couches. The coffee is well-sourced and delicious, there are plenty of non-coffee options and they offer dairy-free milk for those of us who are lactose intolerant! I've tried several of the baked goods served here and appreciate they are all delicious and made locally - the gluten free Pistachio Rose muffin is a personal favorite! Definitely come check it out...
