For the last year or so, I've been trying a new coffee shop every week. Rarely am I a repeat customer for coffee anywhere. Since discovering Nook, I broke routine and went three days in a row. I got the iced blueberry thyme latte, the iced purple rain latte, and the iced vanilla latte. All decaf and all with oat milk. I don't know if I can go back to my routine of trying a new place once a week, I might go here from now on. A large majority of the coffee shops I've tried are passable or good but I've only discovered a few others that feel not only good but consistent, and they are in Providence or Bristol. I'm glad this one is amazing since I live close by! The lattes aren't overly sweet. The decaf isn't bitter. So far, the quality is consistent which has been a problem at other places where my first latte was good but the following same flavor latte on a return day tasted different.
The couches are comfortable and there are multiple seats. I can't speak to all hours of the day but around 11am and 1pm there seems to be lots of seating during the weekdays. Very friendly baristas. Parking is plentiful and free when the main street isn't super busy. There's outdoor seating for people who like that.
While this is one of the pricier coffee shops I've been to recently, the quality has been top notch and I feel satisfied with the consistency and flavor. I'm happy I discovered this place and happy it's near my house instead of in Bristol or Providence where I can't travel to every day.
It's too early to declare this my favorite coffee shop ever, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was by the end of this year. I can't wait to see if/what seasonal flavors come out...
Read moreA newer cafe on Main St in EG.
I stopped by recently to grab a cup of Joe & patronage the new cafe on the block. And when I say new cafe on the block, I mean new cafe on the block.
Let's face it... if you know anything about Main St in EG, then you are aware that business come & go faster than one can bat an eye. I'll take it one step further by disclosing that Main St certainly has it's fair share of coffee peddlers. Not to lose focus here on the Nook Coffee House, but the well received Dante's Kitchen is only next door.
I was pleased with the coffee, which appears to be locally roasted. At a glance I observed a map outlining the roaster they sourced coffee from. As a supporter of small & local, I appreciate their approach.
The cafe itself is cute, hip, & probably closer to what one might find in a setting other than EG, which is refreshing as well.
The woman who took my order ensured that my guest & I received a fresh pot, which is more than I can say about many of the coffee shops I have visited. She was obviously aware that the customer's experience & quality of the product are key to returning cliental. It's the little things that can make or break a business & I hope the Nook Coffee House continues to deliver & thrive.
As for the coffee, I found the particular brew that we were served to be on the darker & oilier side. Many folks these days have a fond appreciation for darker roasts, but I personally still prefer the lighter blend that New Englander's typically enjoy. All in all, the coffee was still very pleasing & I plan to make my way over to the Nook Coffee House again real soon. If your in the neighborhood you should too & tell them that...
Read moreThe spot for the best coffee and espresso drinks in a cozy and clean space. This independent owned and operated cafe is the place where the locals have a drink getting started as the walk in the door. I’m always greeted with a smile and a friendly chat.
In house craft-made syrups and non-dairy milk products combine with local providence roasted coffee to create the perfect fun but not too sweet lattes and non-espresso drinks. They always have a fresh sheet with new and fun options for the season. I stop every time I’m on Main Street. Reading other recent reviews about furniture, I can’t believe they reviewed the correct place. Shannon and her team are the real deal.
Try the raspberry beret if it’s still on when you go. The perfect touch of fun and sweetness to an always amazing latte.
