I walked in wearing jeans and a T-shirt (because, shocking, some of us shop comfortably), and while holding a blue sundress up to myself to see if it might fit, an older woman swooped in and snatched it away so I “wouldn’t ruin it before the fitting room.” Spoiler: sundresses do, in fact, survive being held in front of your body.

It didn’t stop there. Because I was wearing lip gloss, I was told I’d need to remove my makeup before trying anything on. Lip gloss! Unless the dresses are made of spun sugar, that feels a little over the top.

I’m a happy, willing shopper who loves beautiful clothes and doesn’t mind paying for quality, but I’ll never be back here. Even if the clothes were free, I’d pass. You can find gorgeous pieces at plenty of places that don’t make you feel like you’re on trial for daring to browse in casual clothes.
