Went to Blackstone steakhouse in East Greenwich based off great recommendations and reviews, was sadly disappointed as I had high hopes. Made a reservation based off the website stating reservations were strongly encouraged, surprised to find they had ton of available times for reservations thinking maybe it’s because it’s a week day. Sat at the bar which was empty as was the dining area. I almost thought they were closed. I ordered my martini flight which to my surprise was $5.01 more than the website advertised. The drinks were mediocre as they were not made fresh but poured from a premix bottle and shaken with ice. While waiting for my food I overhear the bartender telling the trainee they only had 2 people the night prior, not exactly sure what was being referred to but it wouldn’t be a stretch to think customers. I ordered my 2 entrées, the chicken parm and grilled salmon, already hesitant as $28 for chicken parm is steep, and the shrimp flight as an appetizer. 15 minutes later my entrées arrives but no appetizer in sight. I make note of this with the waitress/bartender and they state they would go check the status, I immediately decline them doing so as I’ve already received my entrées. At first glance the pasta served with my chicken parm is floating around my plate which in turn makes the chicken parm soggy, first bite I can tell the chicken is reheated and not fresh as well as the stracotto pasta. The salmon was crunchy and as well as the asparagus the only notable portion of this dish is the mashed potato’s. I push the plates away and the bartender/waitress asks if I’d like a box I decline and voice my disappointment. To my surprise the chef approaches and says it will be taken care of. I’m then asked if I would like to look at the desert menu I kindly decline and ask for the bill as I’d be happy to pay for the drinks which they agreed they would honor the website advertised price. I receive the check and they had removed one of the entrées but had not adjusted the drink price as discussed, I bring this to the bartenders attention, by the time it’s adjusted a second bartender approaches me and says the bill has been taken care of by the chef. Much appreciated as I would have happily paid the advertised price for the drinks. Needless to say unfortunately I will not be returning to this location. I was very optimistic by the reviews and word of mouth as well as visiting the...
Read moreWe had a weirdly unusual experience on valentine's day last night. The food was very good. The atmosphere was excellent. The service was atrocious. We ate at the bar.
Our bartender took our drink order, delivered the drinks, and then left us alone with menus. He started working on the service bar orders and never came back to check on us. There were 6 people sitting at the bar and about 14 people in the restaurant. We had to finally ask one of the other floor waiters to help us find out who was supposed to take our food order.
Another server finally came over and explained the menu for us (our first visit) and the bartender came over to take our dinner order.
We ordered the Carpacio flight - amazing, and our entre and sides, which were both very good. While the food was amazingly good, the lack of cleaning up dirty dishes and glassware for the bar placed right in front of us at the bar was disgusting. Waiters, bussers, restaurant managers, and food delivery staff walked past the mess on the bar in front of us numerous times without cleaning up any of the mess for almost an hour. Finally, with a bit of a slow down in the bar area, someone removed the dirty dishes and glasses.
We ordered a dessert and after dinner drink. My wife ordered a pecan Carmel chocolate brownie for us to share. It was very good but my wife asked if she could get some vanilla ice cream. The restaurant didn't have any. We asked about just regular whipped cream and we managed to get some Redi Whip from the bar refrigerator.
We finally paid the bill and left. When we got in the car to head home we both had the same reaction - what the heck was the deal with the service? Almost no one knew what they were doing on the one of the toughest service nights of the year for a "date restaurant" type place. With a kitchen and Chef putting out an upscale menu in a prime location in East Greenwich, how can you not have trained serving staff? The Chef must be very embarrassed - or should be....
Read moreI reached out via IG 2 and a 1/2 months before my event and was told they could accommodate me and a party between 10-15 on my birthday 11/16. I called the week before to confirm exact headcount details and time. Was given the confirmation I was all set. The night before my birthday event, around 5:30pm, Julie calls me and tell me that they somehow managed to double book themselves. She said they would accommodate my reservation at 8:30pm v 7:00 (my original time). I explained I had a babysitter for a specific time and coming across the state would make it impossible to adjust 24 hours before hand. I was willing to work with her and have my husband and half the guests (couples) stay behind so I could go with a smaller girlfriend group. When I called Julie back inquiring why I was the one getting bumped given how much notice I gave, she said they couldn’t find my IG message that I offered to send along and she wasn’t sure how someone was able to confirm my party for 10 knowing a manager code approval is required and was granted. The explanation was that the bump was based on priority. So when I asked if that meant reservations were made earlier than 9/1, she didn’t give me an answer. I told her how upsetting this was given I planned this with ample notice and had all the receipts to show, so I’m suddenly supposed to turn my plans upside down and figure this out the night before and Julie the manager laughed. Full blown laughed at me and when I said I no longer needed the reservation at 8:30 as I didn’t appreciate how this was handled and after I was willing to work with them I’m now being laughed at. I’m absolutely beyond disgusted with this business and it’s a shame because I was a repeat customer at the Coventry location. I will not be giving them business ever again and completely don’t think anyone else should support a business who treats...
